Funny thing is, I'm not even that down from the loss tonight. I'm stoked about our future. Delonte, Tony, Orien, and Jefferson got me smiling the whole night. Man, do we have a lot to be happy about with these kids.
Even if they aren't our future starters (only Jefferson seems to have a future starting spot locked up), they're exciting players who could be key contributors for the team.
Anyone know what happened to Perkins? He didn't even get to play tonight. For most of the game, Jefferson played Center and Pierce played a lot at PF (which allowed Tony Allen to get a lot of playing time).

It seems to me that either Perkins has an injury no one is talking about, or Doc is too blind to see that this team desperately needs what he has to offer. As you have been saying, Perkins can't develop without any meaningful minutes, and right now he is our only true center and our best post defender and rebounder. Doc seems to no longer care about developing him. I'm quickly moving towards the "Doc must go" bandwagon.

I think something must have happened to Perkins. Either he upset Doc in some way (complaining about playing time), is injured, or isn't playing as hard as he can.
Or maybe Doc is conceiling Perk so that teams won't try to pry him away in trade demands.
But at least Doc is giving Al playing time. Tonight, he went with the small lineup and used Jefferson a lot at Center. But he could have easily used Blount instead, but he didn't. I like that.

I really think the only reason Doc played Al so much in the second half was because of Blount's busted lip. In the first quarter, Al came out quickly, and Reed came in I think. Then Al did not see any action until 4 minutes left in the second half. (You can check FLceltfan game commentary) When Blunt went out with a busted lip, Big Al came in, went on a hot streak (which he usually does and Doc never seems to notice), scored like 8 more points on 4-4 shooting to give him 14 I think.
Then he finally did play a lot in the second half, because Doc saw how he was abusing the Hawks D. If Blunt would have stayed in and not gotten the busted lip, I do not think Al would have played much at all, just like usual.
So, thanks...I guess... Blunt, for getting the busted lip.

Blount had as many turnovers as points tonight. He is a total waste and gives more negatives than positives when he is on the floor for the most part. Celtics.com puts out that great article about Perk and how Doc isn't afraid to play him and how he has worked so hard to get minutes and then he disappears. Perk does more positive things than negative. We need what he brings. Doc continually complains about getting out rebounded but won't put one of our best rebounders in. He isn't even giving him a chance. 2 games ago he played 5 minutes and had 4 points and 5 rebounds and 0 fouls. Yet doc pulled him and left him on the bench. I just don't get it. The only thing I can come up with is that Blount and Raef are being showcased for a trade. It is the only thing that makes sense because Perk clearly deserves some time on the floor and he helps us when he gets it and yet Bizarro Doc sits him. Very frustrating!!!!

Doc must be hiding Perk from the other teams so that they don't come asking for him in trade talks.
If anyone else can give a better explanation, we are all ears ;D
