Smart is a monster, I would have to get a godfather deal to move him. But as it's been said, he def shouldn't be shooting that much, especially when he's not hitting shots.
Boston just could not hit shots in that final quarter. They needed to move the ball around more, and that falls on Brad a bit, but at the end of the ay, in big time playoff basketball, you have to hit your open shots. Boston didn't.
The stories about how angry Ainge was that Miami took Herro 13th sting extra now lol. Dude would've been a great fit for this team.
Boston's future is bright. Jaylen and Jayson are so young. Perfect building blocks for longterm success. The moves they make in the next year are going to be huge.

I had to check the play-by-play after the fact to confirm, but we were down by 2 with 5 minutes to go and for the next 7 possessions we did the following:
Kemba miss 3 Tatum Turnover Kemba miss 3 Tatum miss 3 Smart miss 3 Jaylen miss 3 (Smart missed a put back after the offensive rebound)
During those 7 possessions, Miami got at least a point through:
1 3 pointer 3 2 pointers 3 free-throws
And the lead ballooned to 14 with 2ish minutes to go.
I really can't see what Brad can do if guys just shoot 3s whenever they see a zone or it's crunch time. It's their crutch when they get tight or nervous it seems and they don't seem to have the awareness to read the momentum of the game and when to work a little harder for a better look. I'm hoping they learn from this, but we saw it pretty consistently in the Raptors series too.

But in clutch time wide open threes don't happen unless you move the ball and penetrate a lot more, and that doesn't happen.

Miami found ways to get much better shots than we did in the final 5 minutes. How much of that was coaching and how much it was our guys forgetting what had worked so well earlier, I don't know, but we go through long stretches where the team seems to go brain dead. I'm not wild about either Smart or Kemba as floor leader.

I looked at Smart's shooting throughout the playoffs. The key number of shots for him is 10 or less shots we win 88% of the time (7-1), when he takes 11 or more we win 33% of the time (3-6).
He was 10-30 overall in the Sixers series for 33% and 2-15 for three's for 13%. The most shots he had in a game was in that series was 11 and he was 3-11 in a Game two win. That was also the only game that he took more than three 3 point shots in that series and went 1-7.
For the next two series he shot exactly the same amount of shots at 84. He made 35-84 for 42% and 24-61 39% for three in the Raptors series. Which isn't terrible overall, but still not good by any means. He was about league average from three point land.
In the Miami series he was 33-84 overall 39% and 15-47 from three for 32% which isn't good by any stat in either category.
Overall he shot 78-198 for 39% and was 41-123 from three for 33% which is terrible.
People will rightfully bring up how Tatum was and still is inefficient, but the difference is the age and that he is still growing into the player that he is going to be. Smart has hit his ceiling. That is why I want to trade him now by selling high with Gordon to get guys who will truly make us contenders.
Tatum and Brown need to get stronger in the off season because what alarmed me is that after the game yesterday they were talking about how Miami was too physical for them, which makes us a soft team. Soft teams don't win championships, even in this age of soft basketball to call in lightly.
