Well, it started off really well, but went down steadily thereafter. But in a way, it was necessary. This season cannot just be on winning alone. Tonight, Justin Reed was able to get some playing time, and if he's a part of our future, he needs to get playing time. Delonte looked good once again, taking shots earlier in the count when he had an opening. Banks wasn't attacking like he did the past 2 games, and this affected his effectiveness. He needs to go back to attacking.

Looking at the box score, Perkins tied for team lead in rebounds in only 5 minutes. Greene in 6 minutes had as many rebounds as Blount. Having Blount on the floor IMO is like having an extra small forward (and a poor rebounding one at that). No matter what points he scores, we pay for it in the paint. And Scal is not much better. He did have 7 pts but only 1 board. Neither one give us much in the paint, which is where this team needs to improve. With Camby out and no Nugget getting more than 7 rebounds, we should have controlled the glass, but instead we get outrebounded. And turnovers also hurt, with Blount among our leading violators once again (more turnovers than rebounds!).
I don't understand why Perkins is suddenly in the dog house and Al plays less than half the game. Doc seems so narrow minded about playing time going according to age and not ability. Only Delonte gets steady minutes, and that is out of necessity as we have no veteran PG. I wish Ainge would find a way of trading Blount and Scal so Doc would have to play Perkins and Jefferson. We should also run more of the offense through West and less through Davis. I wish Ainge would have hired Paul Westphal instead of Doc.

In my opinion, Perk's 5 minutes of playing time is inexcusable by Doc. Perk had 4 points and 4 rebounds in just 5 minutes. He had no fouls. Doc this morning says how the game plan was to play strong in the paint and then he benches our strongest player under the basket who was playing very well there. I don't understand why he didn't put Gomes in either. Good things seem to happen when Gomes is on the floor. Not so good things seem to happen when Veal is on the floor yet he gets playing time above Perk and Gomes. You would think after seeing how well the rotation against the Clippers worked he would have tried it but no, he does something completely different. This guy really seems to be trying to lose at times. I just don't get it. Ricky had a horrendous night. His hustle was there but just nothing seemed to go right for him. Hopefully he got that out of his system and we won't see it again for a long time. Maybe he doesn't do well at high altitudes. Blount's effort was very lackluster to say the least. If they passed him the ball he would shoot it but didn't hustle after rebounds or loose balls. I can think of 2 particular times when the rebound went right past him to the Nuggets and he didn't even move or put out his arms to even try to get it. He just stood there flat footed and watched it go past him. A tiny bit of hustle would have netted us 2 offensive rebounds. Please, Danny, find another team for this guy!!!! His lack of hustle, while still being allowed in the starting lineup and getting more minutes than players who are actually out there hustling, is sending the wrong message to the kids. I don't blame them if they get the why try attitude. Perk is in there working and hustling and gets 5 minutes and Blount who can't bother to stretch his arm out to snag a rebound gets all the playing time. We need to move him! I bet even the chair that DD couldn't defend would get more rebounds than Blount.

FLCelt - thank you for the WRKO link....... No excuse for lack of effort. They just got their 18th TO Not a problem. It is usually blacked out for the NBA feed but for some reason they haven't been lately so when you said you couldn't follow it I figured I would let you know it was on. It is a lack of focus as much as a lack of effort. Doc's rotations were once again a mystery. We also were fighting an uphill battle against those refs. They were terrible. The time when Martin threw PP to the ground for no apparent reason comes to mind and he didn't even get called for the foul. To Pierce's credit though he didn't retaliate. It shows he is growing up a bit.
