3 international players are intriguing to me: Deni Avdija, Amar Sylla and Aleksej Pokusevski.
Avdija is a young PF who scores, defends and passes — all traits that should suit well on this team. An intense player who plays the right way — hustles, anticipates and thinks a play ahead. Highly skilled to boot.
Amar Sylla is built like Nerlens Noel, but moves better and has better ball skills. Highly explosive. Has potential as a plus defender. But skinny, and will get pushed around in the post.
Aleksej Pokusevski is a poor man’s Porzingis. Lights out shooter, some ball skills, can defend some for a tall and lanky guy.

It's such a crap-shoot with int'l players. Dragan Bender was waived today, a few short years after we had him on our short list in the draft in which we took Jaylen. Of course that's OUR short list, not Danny's.

Bender was too skinny coming into the league. He did put on some muscle, and is putting up decent numbers in the GLeague. He looks at least average for the league, and he’s still pretty young. Maybe the Bucks are in win-now mode, and had to cut him to beef up their playoff roster.

Drafting is a crap shoot, but the gamble isn’t only on foreign players (lots of misses on college players as well). But the foreign talent level has definitely improved, and we’re seeing an influx of skilled international players making NBA rosters.
Another propsoect to keep an eye out for is PG Killian Hayes. Good height and enough athleticism to make it in the league. But for a youngster, he’s got good feel for the game.

Terrific game by the young Deni Avdija m.youtube.com/watch?v=D85fbECBvCsJust knows how to play the game, and play with energy and fire. I’d like to have him at PF and move Tatum to SF, and have Jaylen at the 2.

Killian Hayes and Theo Maledon are PG’s who have solid height for the position, and both show poise beyond their years. Not great athletes, nor explosive, but they do their damage by knowing what to do in pick and roll situations.
Killian Hayes has the higher upside, due to being a better passing PG (excellent court vision), and he has a presence about him that lends to being the better player. But I’m a fan of Maledon as well. He’s got better burst and quickness, and maybe a tad more finishing ability. I think Maledon can also be the better shooter.

Since it’s not feasible to add 3 more players to our already crowded roster ((4, if you include our 2nd round pick), I’d happily draft Theo Maledon and Aleksej Pokusevski and have them stay overseas for a year or two.
Pokusevski is an intriguing talent. Skinny, but plays with moxie. Constantly thinking. Can adjustment in mid-movement. Very good handles and body control for a 7 footer, enough to play some Point Forward. Can make flashy passes on the fly. Nice shooting stroke, and has range extending outside the arc.

Yup I agree. Take some high risk/high reward euro talent and stash it overseas.

Yup I agree. Take some high risk/high reward euro talent and stash it overseas. Didn’t work out so well last time, when we stashed Yabusele and Zizic. So let’s hope we can better identify international talent this time around.
