Yes, but it wouldn't hurt for someone to say "Let's get the ball to Jayson" or whoever is hot at the time. I don't believe that Smart can be trusted not to take every single shot down the stretch. If he's going to play that way I wouldn't even put the ball in his hands. I don't know how many of you get to see the NBC Sports Boston telecast (as opposed to ESPN or TNT) but they're openly talking/joking about Smart's confidence/lack of conscience from the arc. Everyone sees it's a problem. I think what it comes down to is, Marcus needs to know his role. Playing above his means (when he gets too confident after a string of good games) gets him in trouble. When he knows to play the secondary role, that’s when he shines (and we do better).

There's a story Bill Russell told in his excellent autobiography Second Wind. He says he decided one year, before the season, that he was going to score more. I think he had 20 PPG in mind. But what he found out, was that even though he could do what he set out to do, it wasn't good for the team. So he consciously decided to score less. That's one of many reasons he's still - and will likely always be - the greatest winner in American team sports history. He knew his role.

Can someone please give a copy of Second Wind to Marcus, right away?
