Thanks, AF. I hear what you are saying. With drafting Robert Williams last year, having serious interest in Clint Capela, and now signing Vincent Poirier, I think we can see a common characteristic among these 3 -- not great, or versatile on offense, but are lob threats, can rebound and block shots. Quite the opposite of what Al Horford's strengths are. Is this a new wrinkle in the way Brad wants to scheme his gameplan? The NBA is a copy cat league, and I think the traditional 5 will be back, and not the European 5. One take away from TOR is that if you can get consistent 2's, sprinkled in with a 3 here or there, your going to win a lot of games.

Well now that Toronto is a lottery team with both Kawhi and Green gone, let me bump up the potential playoff seed that we are fighting for. The Bucks are the clear favorites even though losing Brogdnon and keeping Bledsoe is going to continue to hurt them. We should be in a dog fight with Indiana for that [HASH]2 seed and if Oladipo misses time like it sounds like he will, we need to get a lead on them while he is out to hold onto that seed.

We are top dogs in the east. Why? Cause All-Star Hayward is back, Tatum is going to make his first of many All-Star teams, and the signing of Kemba is going to make look Ainge like a genius.

I am reading that there are a some Celtic fans that want to make one more move to solidify the roster and to go for it. IDK if there is a move that could do that right now? Maybe if OKC still wants to blow it up and that rumored trade for both Adams and Schroder that would cost us either Smart or Hayward with picks?

MIL, PHI, BOS will be 1-2-3 in any order. I feel much better if BOS plays MIL in the playoffs.

Now Toronto is trying to trade Lowery (don't want and don't have a need) Gasol and Ibaka (may want if trade is right). OKC is looking at blowing it up too but as they are talking to Westbrook about a trade but nobody wants him and that ridiculous contract.

Grant has a chance to steal the starting 4 spot (which isn’t saying too much cause right now we’re looking at either Tatum or Hayward starting there).
Grant’s leadership makes him like a coach on the court (guy is constantly talking and directing, and cheering for his teammates). Plus he’s a tough, physical presence in the paint — which we’d be better off not having Tatum or Hayward be.
Grant can knock down open 3s and plays active defense (always surveying the court trying to anticipate where the play is going to be). He’s smart and comes up with positive plays.
Due to lack of height, wing span and elite jumping ability, Grant is not going to be a rebounding machine — but Kanter will help cover for that.
If he starts at the 4, I believe Jaylen will be moved to the bench (with Gordon starting at the 2). That will help with our bench depth so that we’re not heavily reliant on rookies and Semi to perform. Jaylen will take Mook’s spot as our go to scorer off the bench.

Speaking of Mook, he signed at two year deal with the Spurs. At least it wasn't the Fakers.

I could see Grant moving into a starting role especially if the Celtics have a slow start in the reg season. His defense has been incouraging from what I've seen in highlights and/or summer league. Either Brown or Hayward would've to go to bench or traded to add playing for the young guys.

I'm feeling real good about our team. Title contender -- maybe not highly probable. But a competitive team that could go far in the playoffs, yes I think we are.
What gives me the most optimism is the fight and attitude I expect we're going to put forth. Almost every single person will be eager to prove something -- Hayward-Tatum-Brown-Smart out to prove that they're better without their self-professed leader and basketball genius Kyrie Irving. Kemba to prove that with talent around him, he's a winner. Kanter to prove we don't miss Horford. The rooks to prove they are a special group of rookies who can play and contribute right away. And Brad Stevens, to prove what he can do with a team who's all about discipline and execution and playing together with the right attitude and mindset.
I just feel this team is going to gel really well, almost immediately. They're all single minded in what they want to accomplish this year. There's an energy and vibe that we can almost feel.
Hearing that Hayward did not return home on the west coast, but has stayed in Boston working out tirelessly on his game, you can tell he's ready to prove he's back. Stuff like that gets me pumped up for the season.

A team of less, Brad will get more. A team of more (last year), Brad will get less. Glad BOS got rid of the mercs (Kyrie, Rozier, Morris).

No coach, not even Phil Jackson or Gregg Popovic can do anything if egos cannot play together.
Already we see a big difference in Kyrie’s ego vs. Kemba’s. Kemba is already saying he needs to be the one asking the young guys for advice, seeing how Tatum and Jaylen have already accomplished things (making it to the ECF) that he aspires to. Talk about setting ego aside to get better!
