Second game of our west coast road trip, this time going up against a marginally better team than the Sonics. The Warriors have lost 5 in a row so they are antsy to get off this losing streak.
Last game, Danny Fortson gave us fits. Tonight, we get to face Troy Murphy, another strong fella who can swallow up rebounds. And we also get to face rookie sensation, Ike Diogu, one of my favorite players in last year's daft.
Of course, there's Baron Davis, whom is also entertaining.
Good news for us is Ricky is starting to find his jumper again. After missing his jumper for over a month, he's starting to find the feel for it again, and we can only hope he fully recovers it soon.
Its fun watching Pierce try to break his career high in points of 48, but its even more fun when we win. Hopefully we won't need Pierce to score 50 tonight and instead have a lot of guys contributing.

Both teams are desperate for a victory - GSW has lost five straight and after this game face a nasty New Years road trip - @dal, @hou, and @memphis - lose tonight and you might as well talk about a nine game losing streak.
In our situation, we are a on again off again type of team that will not make a move toward the playoffs until we set our rotations straight.
Doc has shot down the idea of playing Jefferson and Perkins together on the floor so we have to hope Raef and Blonut contribute something other than "reliable scoring".
We managed to beat GS handily at TD Garden last week without D-West and he is back in the lineup tonight - + for Boston.
The rebounding and defense for Golden State has become suspect as they have their own Raef and Blonut in Troy Murphy and Adonal Foyle.
Pierce over Dunleavy and RD and Jason Richardson is a push.
D-West against Baron Davis will be interesting....
Niether team plays defense so the OVER 210 seems like a good bet. GSW -6 against Boston is not a call for me to make if my mortgage depended on it. How can a team playing as poorly as GSW is playing be favored by 6? How can you pick Boston who has been abyssmal on the road this year? OK, I'll take Boston only because they lost the last game and do not want to start this trip 0 and 2 and fall 5 games below .500.
Q's pick - Boston 109, GSW 108 and prepare to store the precious memories in my tornado shelter.

The Celtics just have to want this game more. GS coming off of a 5 game losing streak doesn't bode well for us. We seem like the team that helps other teams break their losing streaks this season. I think the Baron will give Delonte fits. Doc may need to play Banks a little more to slow him down. Diogu will ABUSE Blunt and Raef in the paint and on the boards. Doc HAS to play Perk decent minutes but probably won't. I say it will be a hard fought battle that we lose in the 4th. Trying not to be a pessimist, just trying to be a realist. I also thought we were going to lose the last Golden State game but we won, so who knows. Go Celtics!

I have a feeling we are going to win this one.... but then I go into just about every game thinking we are going to win... must be all that green koolaid LOL

flceltfan - You cannot keep up with the action as it is 26-25 Celts to open the game.
Niether team can stop the other right now.

Looking forward to it, FL12. I'm over at my family's place tonight and won't be able to watch the game until tomorrow night after I get home from work. Reading your play by play is much better than watching the boxscores on Yahoo!.
Gee, its a high scoring game. Already 26 - 25, and there's still 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Pierce is 5 - 5, and Blount has a whopping 5 assists (though he better quit while he's ahead because he's a turnover machine). Delonte is 4 - 4, Ricky is 2 - 3, and Blount is 3 - 4. As a team, we are shooting 83%. If we keep this up, we'll score like 342 pts!!!

Going back to the early 90's, this would have been a very good game to watch. With Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullin, Mitch Richmond, and Sarunas Marcialonis (sp?) playing well for Don Nelson, you knew that the game was going to be entertaining. Of course, by this time, Bird, McHale, and Parish were on their downside of their careers, and Danny and DJ were gone. But John Bagley, Dee Brown, Reggie Lewis, Rick Fox, and Kevin Gamble did a good job of trying to carry on the tradition.

Hmmm.. must be a glitch in the boxscores. Says that Derek Fisher scores on a layup, assist from Derek Fisher. Darn, those hometown refs are letting the Warriors get away with murder!!!

Horribly sloppy play by the Celtics - about six turnovers keeping GSW in the game.
Three free points of GS makes it 38 - 37 at the Qtr.
We need to be more careful out there to get a W tonight.

Nothing like a showdown in the west. Looks like the last team standing will win this game. After a desperation 3 pointer by J-Rich, after 1 quarter, the score is 38 - 37, BOS.
Turnovers are still a worry for us. 6 TO's already. That is probably what led to the Warriors to stay right with us.

Very sloppy first half. Not much defense played on either side. Celts sloppy with the ball. PP lost the ball on the last possession that led to a 3 at the buzzer for GS.
9:33 left in the second. Raef missed the 3 from the corner and tries to tip the rebound back in but it goes to GS. Richarson hits a 3 at the shot clock. Fisher knocks the ball away from Greene out of bounds . Celts will inbound after the time out.

I like the fact they are trying to establish Al Jeff on the blocks.

Celts inbound and miss a 3 pointer. GS rebounds. Steal by Greene who takes it all the way to the basket for a jam. Banks in. Richardson hits a rainbow jumper. Al fumbles the ball and and Fisher misses a long jumper. PP rebounds. Jefferson has it taken away in the lane and Fisher hits a 3 pointer on a catch and shoot from the corner. Celts take a time out.

Once again, the Turnovers are killing us - We are losing 49 to 44 and you can blame the Turnovers killing our energy.
