If Perkins is our starting Center, we need more defensive players around him. The Bulls were able to win with Luke Longley, Wellington, Scott Williams, and Cartwright (during their 2 three-peats) because they had All-NBA Defensive 1st Team players in Jordan and Pippen (not to mention terrific PF's in Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman).
The Spurs are also a strong defensive unit and don't rely on Rash or Mohamed to be their defensive anchor.
If our team as a whole is a strong defensive unit, and if we have star offensive players who can make up for his lack of scoring, Perkins can be the man in the middle for us.

His scoring shouldn't even be an issue especially when you have 4 out of 5 players on the court who are pre-dominantly offensive players. It's Doc unwillingness to keep perkins in becuz he feels the only way we're going to win is by getting into a shootout. I don't care how much he preaches about defense. His actions with subsitution proves to me that he is a flipflopper and he does not know how to coach in this league.
