With Zion being my #1 pick, the next guy I’d take in this draft is Ja Morant. High ceiling with a not-so-low-floor (meaning even if he’s not an All-Star, he should still be a meaningful NBA player). At first, I thought he was a Rondo-type PG (uber talented PG without a perimeter game). But Morant is an 80% shooter from FT on 8 attempts per game, and though not lights out, he’s knocking down 32% of his 3’s on more than 4 attempts per game. Meaning, he has a perimeter game, though it doesn’t shine like other parts of his game.
Where Morant does his damage is within the arc. It’s hard stopping a speed guy who has slick handles and creativity.
And not only does he score (24ppg) but he passes the rock (10apg), rebounds (5rpg), steals (almost 2 per game) and blocks shots (just under 1 per).
A case can be made for Morant to go #1 over Zion. But for now, I’ll have Morant go second.

Morant’s game is similar to DeAaron Fox’s, and we see how well Fox has translated to the NBA. And Morant’s perimeter game is a bit more polished.

I watch literally zero college ball until March Madness, but what little I saw of Ja Morant's highlights in the first round were damn impressive.
