I think TR3 is the first to go this summer as he clearly wants a bigger role - and I don't blame him. At least JB gets starter minutes most nights. If we let TR3 go, either outright or via sign-and-trade, why couldn't we go with a three guard rotation of Irving, Smart and Brown? That's what most teams have traditionally done.

As fun as Rozier is, I think is a bit undisciplined to trust with a big role.

It's an interesting thought about JB DMatt...But IMHO I've never thought of him nor anyone else as an X-factor so to speak. I mean we've all seen what this team can be w/just about everyone at one time or another playing well. We've even seen when the whole team has chemistry and playing some of what seems like their best basketball at times. This is the first time since we've seen it for any stretch w/Hayward playing well. It's a glimpse of what we all thought this team would be when we signed Hayward & before the injury. He's much more confident. He's aggressive. His team mates are looking for him on offense. Truth be told we've not really seen what this team can do when Hayward's in the full flow and ballin'. I'm not saying that at times other guys won't fit that role but overall there's no doubt in my mind that Hayward progression makes us a very different team...

A few comments:
1. Hayward - when he scores 20+ or more, it is usually a win. 2. Brown, Rozier - I think Danny is going to have a conversation like self worth, and will you be happy with your role. Brown has accepted his role, where Rozier is 50-50.

A 75% healthy Hayward will still grade out as a solid NBA starter. The Hayward we’re seeing these days is an above average starter — and we have the luxury of bringing him off the bench. In other words, I feel that if this current Hayward played this way the entire season, he’d be a shoe-in for 6th man of the year. What a boost to this team it would be if we added a 6th man of the year caliber player to our bench. And that’s essential what we now have.

I recently read a ridiculous stat that we are 18-2 when Hayward shoots 50% or better and 17-23 when below 50%. He Really seems to open things up when he has his shots falling. boxden.com/showthread.php?t=2717115

Is Hayward the X factor, because his performance has been below average 2/3's of the games this year?

I think that's exactly why he's the x-factor RR...You're right...His performance has been below avg 2/3's of the year. It's the 1/3 that's the difference. If we can get that 1/3 to become more consistent then as I said before we'll start to see the team we thought we were going to see when we signed him...

Let’s hope this neck strain doesn’t hold back our X factor.

Hey D, I'm w/you...I thought that gm yesterday was a disgrace (Atl)...To let them go in a 34-whatever run on us & tie the gm was inexcusable. IMHO the coach left a cold & unproductive bench in too long. I figure he was trying to keep the starters on the bench & see if the bench guys could bring it home. But once the run hits double digits you have to kill it or you run the risk of loosing the gm which is almost what happened. Guys had good gms for us Kyrie, MM (though he took a bad shot towards the end of the gm instead of running the clock), Tatum, Smart, and Brown which is very encouraging. We've seen it where these guys have had good gms & these lapses on O which kills our D happen. Though its been a small sample size I'll admit but when Gordo is on I've yet to see a lull like that if you guys have please correct me. IMHO though if Hayward's able to play & give us 15 or so that run vs us doesn't happen. Anyway I hope you're right D. Btw I'm going to the gm in Philly Wed...

The X Factor does it again! When Hayward plays well, good things happen.
Excellent time for him to trend upwards. In crunch time, we’re in a good situation with Kyrie, Hayward, Horford, and Tatum as our 4th option. Good, smart players who execute.

I have seen that burst of speed now, on offense and defense. I would not be surprised he is an all-star next year. The only difference I see then, and now is taking less shot attempts, which is attributed to his role with BOS versus his role in UTA.

Do we keep him coming off the bench? or insert him in the starting 5?
Might be better off the bench to help that unit. If our B-Team consists of Smart, Rozier, Jaylen and Morris, that has potential to be chicken-without-its-head bad (or on some nights, exceptionally exciting!).

I like him coming off the bench, but on the court in crunch time. C's need him to get the team good shots when Kyrie sits. Rozier is better off the ball and Smart is too likely to force passes.
