6'9" PF/C 7'6" wingspan
Tremendously explosive big man who can get up in a hurry. Great hands, a great lob threat, offensive putback threat, shot blocking threat. These are all his positives.
His negative is he's far from being polished. I think his footwork is sloppy, and he doesn't seem to have an idea of what he wants to do when he has the ball.
So basically, he's a defensive threat, and a work in progress offensively.
Here's some insight into Robert Williams. It was his teammate Tyler Davis who helped Rob think he can be good at basketball. Rob didn't think he was NBA caliber until he arrived at Texas A&M.
Here's a young kid with explosiveness that is rare, even among NBA big men, but he doesn't know how good he can be.
This is where I think Brad Stevens is going to bring the best out of Rob. Stevens is all about self improvement, taking it day by day, getting better at practice one step at a time. He's going to make Rob a believer in himself.
Rob has a chance to really blossom and explode onto the scene! But he's got to believe in himself to get there.

What I like about Robert Williams is pairing him up with Daniel Theis.
That is going to be an athletic and defensive duo on our bench.

I like the pick. Undersized, however huge wing span. Probably would have been selected higher last year. Rebounding, rim protection, yes!

His loss is our gain. Ainge calls him Bob, and so will I. Bob is a versatile defender. He can stay with smaller, quicker guards. That probably added to his favor in Danny and Brad's eye.

The great thing about Bob joining this team is we do not need him to be a savior. He is not here to resurrect a dead organization, or put a team on his shoulders and carry them out of the cellar. He’ll be joining a contending that is really good, even without him. And all we need is for him to provide us with what he does best — rebound and block shots.

Crazy good luck for us without having to do any trades or work! He's not Mo Bamba but he looks to be a player that covers so many of our needs and brings some high potential for his future without having us give up anything. Never did I expect this kind of excitement from staying put at [HASH]27 but we look to have added a good piece to the puzzle.

Love this pick. That standing reach combined with a 40" is otherworldly. Dude has some work ethic issues, but the C's will be the perfect place for him to sink or swim. And if he sinks, the c's are only out a later 1st rounder. But if the light turns on for him, we could have a starting center for quite some time. Dude is also quick enough to handle switches.

I was watching his highlights from last year today. His condor wing span is really displayed rebounding, and shot blocking. Also, he played out of position this year, which I think attributed to some of the issues I read today, like development.
