Would you rather trade Kyrie or Jaylen, as the centerpiece of a Kawhi Leonard trade?

I want both. It would be hard for me to pick between the two. Kyrie is a bonafide star and is still young. He has had a history of injuries but he has proved that he is a star in the league and is a clutch player.
Jaylen is young and hasn't yet proved that he can be a star. At times last season I questioned his decision making. It could be that he is just young and that will work out with experience. I'd hate to give up on him because he does have a lot of potential if he can live up to it.
So, I want both. I'll leave it to Danny and Brad who know these guys much better than I do to make a decision like that should it have to be made.

I listened to a draft podcast, and a guy spoke specifically of Jaylen's decision making, and that it could be something he'll always struggle with. Instincts are not something you really improve upon -- you either have it or you don't. You can get better at it, but instincts never take a huge leap. I wonder if this will be Jaylen's ordeal from becoming a great player?

If I were the Spurs, it wouldn't be Jaylen if i was looking at our roster. It would be Tatum. Thinking about the players that Pop covets...Tatum looks like he could've been a Spur.

For sure, i think every team would take Tatum over Jaylen.
But the question for the Spurs is, will they get a better offer than what we can offer them. I’m pretty sure that Danny won’t trade Tatum, but if he offers, say, Jaylen, Smart, Rozier + picks, can the Lakers or Philly or the Clips do better?
Plus with it being mentioned that the Spurs will not trade to a western conference team, it further limits their options.

It depends a tad but probably Jaylen. If you do Jaylen then you have a really really good core. With Kyrie it would complicate the pg position. We could try to get back a pg from them, but I'm not sure how well that would work.

Tatum should be the one player who is off bounds in any trade. I think Danny is smart enough to make that clear to any team that comes calling. Jaylen plus maybe Morris and some picks would be the most I'd offer. I want Smart back in Green and NOT on the Spurs.

I want Smart on GS. That's the best way to slow down their offense. (Half-kidding.)

Smart likely will cost too much to retain - especially if we want to re-sign Kyrie and keep our other guys.

On the one hand, what else is Brad supposed to say. On the other hand, Brad isn't the type to mislead, so I think he really means it. If Smart is re-signed, I would think Rozier is out the door. We won't pay good money for 2 backup combo guards.

Smart has to be gone, there is no logical way to justify paying him as much as he wants to kill our offense the way he does.

That’s hard to say, Jrmzt. I like Smart’s winning plays, and I like the positive things Rozier brings to the table.

"With that being the case, who would you keep? Rozier who is cheaper for a year more or Smart?"
Let me ROZIER!!! think about that. Guess I didn't need much time to decide.
Let some other team severely overpay for a guy (Smart) who seems better than he is because the positive things he does are unique and so stand out more. Unfortunately for every great defensive play he makes, he wastes three possessions on ill-advised shots. If we can sucker some team into giving us something useful back, do a sign and trade. Otherwise, cut him loose, as we did with Evan Turner.
