There's growing intrigue that Lebron could be heading to Philly, to team up with Embiid and Simmons.
I guess it's possible, but I don't see a perfect fit with Simmons and Lebron, who basically are the same type of player. Simmons isn't a perimeter threat, so when Lebron is dominating the ball, they'll need to use Simmons differently than how he played this year.
But if it happens, Vegas odds puts them as the favorite in the east. It doesn't bother me much, seeing how vegas also had Philly beating us in the playoffs, and was wrong.
But Philly could be a major threat to us, even without Lebron. We have to make sure we make right moves to keep us ahead of them.

I think Philly would be scary with LeBron and don't want him going there. I'd much prefer he head West.

PHI is projected with a cap space of only $23m. James is not taking a discount to play for them.

What if Lebron's only goal now, after all that he's accomplished, is to win as many titles as he can before retiring. Well, there's no way he can jump onto the Wariors. Maybe somehow join Houston, but they're an old team.
He could join the Sixers, but they got ousted by us without us playing Kyrie and Hayward.
What about us? Say Lebron would take a huge paycut just to join us and help us help him win 3 titles before he goes off into the sunset. Would you endorse that? Say he's good with 20 mil, would you open the doors for him to come in?
Here's a guy we have cheered against for so many years -- but he wants what we want. We're just the team that can get it done with a true superstar like him.

Tough question. I'd have to think we'd be the prohibitive favorites if he came here, but I don't think it would feel nearly as sweet if we won [HASH]18 that way. I think Kyrie would say the same thing.

I like that he's maybe calling or visiting with us. That's really big in terms of validating what the Celtics are building whether it's super serious or not.

Honestly, if it is between Philly and us, I don't see how Lebron can not choose us. We're a title contender already, even without him. Joining us practically guarantees championships!

The video game GM in me says I'd take him in a second. Obviously, Danny would take into account the impact in terms of the future just due to his age and how he impacts the cap (is it even possible?) and moves you can make. I'm not sure Danny would really even consider this due to other moves we can make to really contend for longer.

James is not coming to BOS, but let's play along, then Irving would definitely not be resigning with BOS.

Cavs are close to being swept. Even with Curry and Thompson nonfactors in Game 3, and Lebron getting a triple double, the Warriors won convincingly on the road, thanks to Durant's 40+ pt game.
How embarrassing for the Cavs. Even if they win a game (don't see them winning more than that), how does this not convince Lebron that he needs to get out of there ASAP?
I think he has 3 real choices (I'll include the Lakers ONLY because he's been rumored to go there for like the past 3 years).
Houston, Lakers and Celtics
Teaming up with Harden and Chris Paul will give Lebron big time talent to work with. But all are ball dominant. They will all need to ajdust their games to make it work. But aside from them, the supporting talent is iffy. I mean, having to rely on Trevor Ariza and PJ Tucker to produce consistently is not ideal. Eric Gordon and Clint Capela are solid though.
The Lakers, even if they acquire Paul George and Lebron, are not going to compete for a championship. They still won't have enough fire power and a strong enough supporting cast to knock off GS.
I won't include Philly cause I don't see how it'll work with Ben Simmons and Lebron James. Without the ball in his hands, you handicap Simmons quite a bit. Plus, Philly wants to push the tempo, and that'll wear down an older Lebron.
Lebron to the Celtics makes the most sense for Lebron. He'll have fire power, he'll have the supporting cast, and he'll be in a system that thrives with what he does best -- pass the ball.

But if Lebron comes to Boston, it's over for the rest of the league, even without Kyrie. Continuing to play along, only a sign & trade would work for BOS. A team can only sign a player with cap space. Now, if James pulls a CP3 and tells CLE he is gone, prepare, and here is his list of teams.

But if Lebron is desperate to finish out his remaning years contending for (and winning) championships, he'll want to join our team, as is. Not minus Horford (who is a heck of a glue guy), not minus Kyrie (who is one of the very best closers in the game), not minus any of our 2 young wings (Jaylen and Tatum), and not minus Gordon Hayward. Keeping this team, as is, and then adding Lebron -- we're beating the Warriors, and everyone else, for the next X amount of years.
