Pretty clear to see who has more urgency tonight. It's one thing to say the right things to the press, another to actually show up and perform. Jaylen Brown even said he was looking forward to tonight yet only has 2 pts on 3 shot attempts at the half. All the questions about our poor road performances will only intensify with horrible performances like this. Not sure what they will do if and when they face a must win on the road.

I’m calling it — we’re going to win this game. Going to erase a 25 pt deficit, and deflate the entire city of CLE.

A young team that struggles to win on the road is not uncommon. When we start to do so, then we’ll know we’re ready to contend.

Jaylen woke up the ending of the 3rd. It’ll be great to see Tatum, Horford, Rozier and Jaylen all catch fire and put up 50 pts in the 4th!!

Down 27. We're not pulling this one out. Even with Jaylen finally waking up.
Final possession of the third. Smart has the ball with 12 seconds left in the quarter, holding it, holding it. Starts dribbling. You know he's going to shoot. He does - as he always does. He misses - as he always does. Has he made a single one all year?
I know I go back and forth with Smart. But he's just so aggravating that I don't think I can take watching him for several more years. If it's him or TR I want Terry. I know all the things that Smart brings, but there's just no room for dumb players on championship teams. Period.

OK, take what we've learned from this embarrassing defeat, use it as fuel for the next game.

IMO nothing to learn from this game other than, when you mail it in you allow the other team's role players to believe in themselves. This was one of the worse performances in the history of the franchise and these guys should be extremely embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. This is feeling a lot like the Milwaukee series, where we are punchless on the road and better fight hard to defend our home court.
The only semblance of a silver lining is that no matter how much you lose by, it is still a 2 games to 1 series. If we wake up and win game 4, then we got the split we needed, and we could close out at home. But make no mistake, we have given the Cavs new life and they will be a harder out from this point forward. Let's hope we can get our split and take charge this series!

I look at it this way....at least we laid an egg in a game that the nba was mot going to allow us to win anyway.
I just hope we don't get the Tony Brothers treatment for game 4.

Just a complete no-show performance. Awful.
I'd say we WANT a split, but don't NEED a split in Cleveland. We still have the home court advantage and can win the series even if we don't win a road game. I checked the 2008 series with the Cavs and we lost Game 3 by 24 points after winning the first two in Boston. The home team wound up winning every game of the series. Same thing had happened in the first round vs Atlanta, another 7 game series with the home team winning every game. And again vs the Bucks this year. I very much WANT to see us win Game 4, but I'm not going to give up hope if we don't.
You can look at all these series and conclude that the Celtics are a horrible road team. But you can say the same thing about their opponents. I don't understand why the NBA is like this, but it's not just us, and it's not just this year.
As far as how bad the loss was, I'd rather it be a blowout so Brad has their attention. I certainly expect a better effort in Game 4. Whether that translates into a win is another story.

Moving Lebron onto Smart was a good move on CLE's part. Took away his easy post options and the great looks we got from his pick and roll. Brad tried Yabusele, but he played like he typically has (a bit lost on D and like he doesn't belong yet). Nothing major needs to change as our gameplan will always be the same (make Lebron work, take away the open looks of others, move the ball around on CLE's weak D) - we just need to show composure and execute even in tough environments.
Unfortunately, there does seem to be a great merit to the saying that role players shrink on the road. And for all our talk of how great our rookies/young guys are, they really aren't there yet and clearly play worse on the road. They seem flawless rotating on defense at home and yet miss so many rotations/switches on the road. The offense moves at home and we get good looks - on the road, the offense seems timid and we settle for jumpshots and contested shots (I'm looking at both the Marcuses). The home court energy is real.
However, looking at HOU and GS, it seems clear that great players can do it on the road or at home. We're obviously missing 2 big pieces that will help but we've gotten this far it'd be nice to at least look like we're ready to play on the road and not get embarrassed. The only positive from this one is that Lebron still played a ton of minutes and looked tired during the game and now there's no extended rest between the rest of the games in the series.

I like your last point about no extended rest from here on. That could be huge.

Bad loss. The defense focused on guarding L James, and gave up the 3-point line. CLE's outcasts were wide open. Also, there was nu sync to the offense. Morris/Smart took contested, low percentage shots all game. Side note - Tatum is the real deal.
