Terrific game calling once again, FL12. And Q, thanks for being there for the color commentating. I read every post in anticipation, expecting a come from behind win. At times it seemed like we were actually going to do it. But then we'd foul them and the deficit once again built back up.
Looking at the box scores, the fouling was indeed the culprit. Giving 33 pts at the free throw line (while we only got 8) is too huge to overcome.
The Blount experiment didn't work. Keep him on the bench. Reinstating him in the starting rotation did nothing for his rebounding. Once again, he pulled down a measly 1 rebound. In the same amount of time, Jefferson had 12.
Which brings me to this: If Doc wants to experiment with a different lineup, keep Raef and Blount on the bench and use Perk and Jefferson instead. Its about time we rolled the dice on these two young ones. 21 pts (on 10 - 14 shooting), 12 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots in 25 minutes is absolutely terrific. He needs to be rewarded for his outstanding job. This is not a fluke--in the past three games (minusing out the Spurs game in which the team totally neglected to go to him in the post), Jefferson is averaging 16 and 10, and those numbers are climbing.
Its time to let this kid grow into a bigger role. For all the praises Mark Blount has been receiving for his production off the bench, Jefferson dwarfs his numbers all around. Doc needs to stop playing around and hand the key over to Big Al. Let the new era start.
I applaud the effort by the team. Even against the Spurs, we showed some fight--we tried hanging in there, and at times it appeared that we could have won the game. We put up a solid fight vs. the much better Mavs team and I find that encouraging.
