Would you rather have your first choice
Or your 2nd or 3rd choice + two, maybe three high lottery picks in the future?

And let this be a comfort to you -- Danny has the leverage and is in control.
He doesn't have to accept ANY trade he doesn't like. He can stay put and draft Fultz or Jackson or Tatum, or anyone he wants. He's in the drivers seat.
If anything, Danny is the one driving up the cost. Philly has to sweeten the pot until Danny says, 'alright'. Otherwise, Philly loses out, and we take whoever we want, and they have to settle for whoever we, and the Lakers, don't take.

I keep thinking that if Danny wants Jackson it's because he is his first choice. Everyone talks about how great Fultz is and that he is way above everyone else but that is based on just one year of college. The same for many of the other picks. They have had limited exposure and it would also depend on the competition they faced on their college team.
I've just come down to the fact that I have to trust Danny who has done his due diligence and will take the best player for the Celtics. And you are right, Derren. Danny is in the driver's seat and will get his chosen player whether he makes the trade and gets extra assets or just picks first, even if he picks someone besides Fultz. The only thing that could hinder his getting the player he wants is if that is Jackson and he picks Fultz for Philly and then the Lakers take Jackson and Jackson was the player he has wanted. But then again, Fultz doesn't seem to be a bad consolation prize.

If we make the trade with Philly, we'll have to settle for our 3rd choice cause it seems LA will take one of Fultz and Jackson, whoever doesn't go #1.
Do we value Tatum, or Fox that highly?

It would be very ironic if the Celtics have Ball as the third choice and Ball goes to the only team he did not want to go to LOL.

If we had a deal with Philly in place to swap our pick for theirs plus player/pick, and the basic idea was they get Fultz and we get Jackson, couldn't it be structured so that we take Fultz for them (to keep the Lakers from taking him) and we ONLY swap picks if Jackson is available at [HASH]3? That way there is no risk of us falling to our third choice. We get either Fultz or Jackson (plus something).
In thinking of past drafts, I think this is the way it often goes down. A team will make a pick, another team will make their pick, and THEN they trade.

Philly really wants a player they're afraid LA might take before them, so they're desperately trying to get our top pick. We don't mind taking whoever is availabe at 3 -- we're now trying to get Philly to give us unprotected picks (that's the impression I'm getting).
