Now, before we start seeing the "we don't need IT" posts (not necessarily on this board, but i'm sure we'll see it on other sites), it could be that the Cavs let their guard down. They were cake walking to another blowout, and were taken by surprise. We did play with more seriousness and urgency tonight, the way we used to play before. We need to go back to thwt style. I don't expect to see Lebron score less points than shots taken again in this series, but boy was I happy to see us take the first game in Cleveland. Got tired of hearing everybody slam on the C's the past couple days. This'll make them talk less for a day or two. Hopefully, this gives us the confidence to avoid any more blowouts for the rest of the series and we get another home game which is nice.

What was really encouraging to see was our tough demeanor late in the 4th, on hostile territory, and with the game on the line. Not a single guy flinched (not even Olynyk). Smart, Bradley, Crowder, Horford and Olynyk did not shake in their boots, but were up to the challenge.
These experiences are really building up their toughness. Glad Jaylen and Rozier are being exposed to these highly charged situations. And Jaylen sure isn't afraid to go up against King James. This kid has a fighter's mentality.

I had a horrid headache this whole game. Smart is about 2 years overdue for this kind of game. I been saying it....offense wins games in the NBA. But defense definitely helps. The Smart fans can have a very happy 48 hours. I want to see him do it again.

He got stronger and more confident as the game went on. And Brad and the players had confidence in him shooting the 3's -- they told him to keep shooting it. Like you said, I want to see him do this again next game.

Gotta give Jerebko a lot of credit too for injecting more fight and toughness into the team last night. And credit too for staying ready after not playing much in the playoffs.

You gotta give the C's credit for absorbing some real body blows and continuing to hang in there. Losing the first two to Chicago at home after IT lost his sister, getting blown off the court in Games 3 & 4 vs Wash., and then being embarrassed by the Cavs in Game 2. They stayed together, didn't point fingers and just continued to play hard. You have to respect that.

Yes you do, they showed that they still have pride after that debacle in game 2, which is nice to see.

We were able to double LeBron so much more easily without IT4 on the court.
I'm telling you, giving that dude a 4 year max deal would be a mistake.

As he's said many times in the past, it is hard to find guys who can score in the 4th quarter, especially late in the game. IT is one of the best. IT is also an exceptional pick and roll player who meshes well in that area with Horford. But with that said, he's a huge defensive liability. We've been able to mask it pretty good, but it's come to haunt us in the playoffs, where defenses are very tight. And we know he wants to get paid -- and important as he has been to our success, he cannot be our 1A player, or even 1B. On a championship caliber team, he's ideally a #3 guy, or at best he splits being the #2 with another star player.
