This is why I'm not a huge fan of great defensive players. Woop de don They gotta be able to play well on both ends. Part of the reason why we're getting smashed out there is because we're missing way too many shots. And it's not because of CLE's defense -- we're getting lots of open looks, and we're missing them. We need guys who can defend and score. Bradley is unbalanced -- his offense is 90% long jumpers and 10% drives to the basket. If he's off, he ain't gonna contribute much on offense. Crowder is much the same. Smart is just a mess offensively. And we are relying heacy minutes on these 3, and that's partly why we at times go into scoring droughts. The coaching staff wanted help offensively, and I believe they were in favor of going after Melo (shows you how desperate we've become). Ainge needs to bring in more scorers.

Marcus is a consistent shooter. Consistently bad.
I think AB has a role on a good team, just not as the second scorer. If you pair him with Fultz who is 6'4" with long arms and can guard SGs or even SFs, AB can go back to guarding PGs - which he is better suited to do at 6'2". The thing I love about him is that he gets better every year. He shot 39% from deep this year, but was front-rimming a lot of shots in Game 2. I have to wonder if both guarding bigger guys and carrying a big rebounding load this year (6.1 RPG) took something out of him physically.

Definitely a factor, I would think. We've been in gruelling matches for 3 weeks now. And Bradley is a bit banged up too. I bet his legs are tired.
But I agree. He's not a second leading scorer on a contending team. Not versatile enough, nor consistent enough. On a team like the Cavs, he's maybe the 5th scorer.

And the thing is, shooters are not necessarily expensive. Korver, who made $5.2 million this year, is a free agent. Reddick, who is also a free agent, made $7.4 million.

I've been saying it for a while now to the extent it annoys people. Offense wins games in the NBA. If defense won games teams would be made up of Marcus Smarts.
Defense is just a separator between good offensive teams.

Yeah, I agree. The major team sports are different. In baseball, it's acknowledged that good pitching beats good hitting. But in basketball, really good offense beats really good defense. But our offense isn't good enough to success against a really good defense.

Let's just say you won't become a champion if you don't have a good offense and defense. It takes both to win.
