Kevin Love
LaMarcus Aldridge
DeMarcus Cousins
Greg Monroe
Will one of these 4 guys be on our team next year?

I wouldn't bet on it, but I don't think it is inconceivable. I'd put our chances at about 30%.

I'd say Love is an excellent possibility at this time.
He has a long standing friendship with Isaiah Thomas (who is probably trying to entice him to come here), he can see we are an up and coming team, he can see we have a bright head coach who maximizes every ounce of talent from players, and he sees how proactive Danny Ainge is in building teams (meaning, in addition to Love, Ainge will continue to look to improve the roster every year).
Its a winning combination we have with Danny and Brad, and its just a matter of adding better pieces.

I don't think we get any but I if I had to pick one who I thought would be possible to get I would pick Love.
if Aldrige leaves Portland I expect them to make a run at Love, he played his HS ball right outside of Portland

I heard some bad news this morning. The Kings gave Cousins and his agent permission to talk to the Lakers. I'd really hate it if LA got back to contending before we do.
Add Brook Lopez the list. He just opted out of his contract in Brooklyn.
I think Monroe is the best bet for the Celtics to get. There have been rumors that the Celtics are on his short list of teams that he likes.

Hmmm.. I wonder why we are (rumored to be) going after Greg Monroe. More I read about him, he's not the versatile big that Brad digs. Monroe is not much of a defender, and offensively, he's not a stretch big (doesn't shoot from deep).
I guess beggars can't be choosy.

And I guess Monroe is an upgrade over last year's starting Center, Tyler Zeller. Neither plays strong defense, but Monroe is at least stronger and more apt to bang. Offensively, Monroe offers more of a post up game than Zeller, although Zeller is a better shooter from the high post.

Pacers trying to move Hibbert. I don't think he'd be a great fit for the Celtics, though.

I'd rather have Monroe on a good contract than these other guys on bad ones. He's a little younger too. It sends an unfortunate signal to teams/players that we can't attract top free agents, but to be fair....we can't. The biggest free agent we have gotten in a very long time is Paul Pierce when he resigned to a max. We aren't going to tank for years. We aren't going to get a top draft pick for years. We crossed that bridge when we hired Brad Stevens who is too good a coach to coach a team to last place. We also crossed it when we drafted a great player in Smart and made great trades this year, like getting IT for free.
This is another thing that I don't think people take into account. Sometimes we look at a guy like Monroe and come to the conclusion he's not a great player or something. But what we have seen from him is a player on a confused unmotivated and poorly put together and coached team. He and Drum play the same position so someone had to play out of position. It was a team not playing for anything. Same with IT on the Suns. Who was the leader there? Suddenly they find themselves on a team first hard working hard defending team with a great coach with awesome fans and things change. I think if Ainge offers Monroe a reasonably fair contract and Monroe takes it Monroe will look better than his contract. In the mean time K Love will still have to coexist with Lebron and Cousins will have to not get distracted in LA or frustrated with Kobe.
The other thing is that when you get a fine player on a good contract they become a very good asset. If you have a Monroe outperforming his contract it gets a lot easier to trade for Jahil Okafor. Free agency is another way to get good assets, and we haven't done it in so long we forgot what it was about. When you trade a good asset lots of times you get a draft pick 4 years out and you get more assets.
At this point where we can't hit a home run if we can get a single we should take it. In the case of having Brad Stevens I think what he does is he takes a single, then while running the bases sees a guy make a lazy play or an error and gets to 2nd for the RBI. Then he takes a big lead and gets into the pitcher's head.
Take a swing Ainge. Hit the ball. Make contact. At the very least drive up the price for other GMs
