I think its time to face the music with these two guys.
Kelly Olynyk just isn't that good. His intrigue is that he's a 7 foot guard, but he isn't able to utilize his gifts because he's slow, and a tad uncoordinated. He can shoot and pass it well, but not at an elite level (nowhere near the passing maestro that Vlade and Sabonis were). He's not a good rebounder or defender either. I doubt he ever reached Sully's level as a post up scorer, so I'm hoping Olynyk can develop into a consistent deep threat like Matt Bonner.
Already the two new guys are starting to eat Kelly's minutes (Jerebko and Datome). Both of them are stretch 4's too.
I don't know if I'd renew his contract once he's finished with his rookie deal -- KO really needs to show more good things.
Bradley is a good defender, and I like his hustle. And I think his jumper is getting better. But he's not, or should not be, a starter. When a guy has to shoot 16 times to reach 12 points, that tells you he's not an efficient shooter / scorer. He should be a backup 2 guard who plays hard defense and we run certain hand off plays (which seems to be his best play).

I think I virtually completely agree with you on everything here.

KO looks way too much like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. It's absurd. Hey KO. Look at Jerebko. That's how to look.

I think AB can be a starting guard on a good team, but that other guard better be pretty darn good. Like when Thabo started for those good Thunder teams. Bradley does need to get his 3pt% back up in the high 30% though.
KO is what he is. Best case scenario he is a good offensive weapon off the bench. Maybe a 14/6 guy. Both solid players (especially for where they were drafted), but obviously nothing special.

I agree with you about Bradley. To me he's a back up SG not a starter, he would be a good energy guy off the bench for a good team. When it comes to KO I disagree with with you I would offer him a contract after his rookie deal. As a restricted FA I don't think KO will have teams beating down his door, I believe he will be able to be resigned at a reasonable amount. At the end of the day he's still a young 7 footer that can shoot the three. KO is a guy that can come off the bench and create mismatches. With that being said I think DA should mover either Sully or KO this offseason both are bench players not starters.
The problem I see is everyone on this team is a role player. Nobody on this team is all of a sudden going to develop into a star player. IMO we're in the worst possible position just good enough to be in contention for the 8 seed in a very weak Eastern Conference but not bad enough to get a good draft pick. I believe it will be a busy offseason for DA.
Last night at the game Big Baby was listed at 6'9" 279. Sully is 6'9" and listed at 265 though he said he weighed in at 300+ pounds at different points of the season. The fact that Sully is basically the same size as Baby makes me angry. This should have been the year Sully stepped up and instead he didn't want it enough. Very disappointing may be time to move on from him.

I think the rotation combo of Avery, Smart, and IT is excellent. They just need a little extra help from Evan T from time to time or when someone gets hurt. I am very hopeful that next year Crowder and James Young can man the sf spot. That leaves ET as sort of a 5th swing, which I think could be a good spot for him. He would get extra play time if there's no real backup pg after Smart.
That said ....KO. Wow that is disappointing. When you consider that DeMarre Carrol makes I think 2.5 mill and Kyle Korver makes less than 6....I just wouldn't offer KO much. Scal made 3 mill, so maybe that.
We all thought and hoped maybe he could be 80% of Dirk and it turned out to be more like 40%. He tries but just is not effective at defense or at rebounding. He's just a soft stretch 4.
To make matters worse without Rondo to set him up and reward him for running the floor and without Sully to get him rebounds he just isn't helping. Zeller has totally beaten him out. If he can be traded for a future draft pick they should think about it because draft picks have very affordable contracts. Even a 2nd rounder could at least be a Euro stash. We're just at the point where he isn't helping.
Sully needs to commit to being in shape or he has to be gone. He can't stay healthy if he weighs so much. I don't think he's exactly in Big Baby Land, but he can see it and he needs to do something about that.
If I'm the Celts right now I'm putting all my draft picks into bigs because that's what they need. WCS, Myles Turner, Kaminsky. Whoever. Get bigs. They're all prospects. Get em.

I'm not ready to give up on either guy. I think Avery has improved every year and he is a very, very good defender and his offense is becoming more and more reliable. Kelly is only in his second year and has missed chunks of time with injuries. He has a lot of good things and I think he will get much better. Give him time.
