Can't figure out this team yet. Listening to interviews from the C's media day a few days late. I actually found Jeff Green's the most interesting. Sully's is weird too. They either just don't want to be there or are being jerks or have a chip on their shoulder. Plus if you watch the other interviews and Ainge we have a bunch of new faces and young guys. Ainge sounds pretty good with Rondo though and Rondo's motivation to get back to being a top pg. There's either going to be a lot of changes or this team is going to play with a chip. Either way Jeff Green seems like he's in great shape. He's either showcasing himself or just rugged. Can't figure it all out. Seems like he's been working hard though. Wouldn't blame them with all the stuff the media has been saying. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdx7gxGHB9Mwww.youtube.com/watch?v=m5dpS15jANc Like Sully said preseason hasn't even started and people expect him to come out like lance armstrong when even the best conditioned athletes get tired. It's still so early. But I like the chips. Some guys are going to make it. Some aren't. Some guys are going to be a part of this some aren't. I like that some guys look like they want to be though.

I read Green put on weight, IMO He will opt out of his contract at the end of the season to secure a long term deal.

He sounds like the leader of this team right now to me especially with Rondo hurt. Maybe he's going to rebound more who knows.

I believe Green and Ariza are comparable players. Green turns 29 this offseason while Ariza signed a deal this offseason at the age of 29 for 4 x 8. I believe Green is as good if not better than Ariza. A motivated Green can't be a bad thing

All these guys look like they are in too good of shape to be as bad as people think. Stevens has had them working during hte offseason. Green has been inconsistant up until now and fools gold somewhat so hard to tell. He's fully removed from his heart stuff and he and rondo have now had a year and a full offseason since pierce and KG left. They didn't have that last time.

Rondo is in amazing shape as well. All these guys are saying they are in the best shape of their careers. Depends on what you believe. I think they are. It looks like they are to me. That's not the mentality of a losing team. Great teams start in the offseason. Stuff happens though. I'm genuinally disapointed Rondo is hurt.

Jeff Green is one of my favorite players because I think he genuinally gets down on himself. I think his response to the media is that too. He hates it. He listens to other people and loses his confidence. I think Stevens is a super positive guy and hope he's telling them if they do the work that stuff will take care of itself. I think Jeff Green's heart issues and everything in between stem from that. He's too hard on himself.
Jeff Green is a classic nice guy. He's listens too much. Super talented imo if he ever just decides to be a jerk a bit more.
I think Jeff can be one of two things. Either be a late bloomer of sorts or be a Gerald Wallace typ eof guy but more offensive later in his career. Time will tell on that. I thought for the most part Jeff was our best player last year next to Bass. He played really well and was doing the right things as far as taking steps forward. Played in every game and shot the ball quite a bit. Some shots went in some didn't but consistency can come with that. You have to shoot it and he did that and his big games were more frequent. He was generally just more aggressive last year on the offensive end.
I expect a big year from him this year myself. One of the more surprising players in the nba. I haven't expected that yet and have been patient but this year I would tab as that.

I also hate blogs myself. Was just reading this over at celticsblog and still don't know why i do. Becasue i read it and it annoys me.
But this is jeff green's tweet
"it's tough to block it all out but you just say 'blogs suck' and move on"
This is celticsblog's retort
"The "inconsistent" label comes, first and foremost, from him not living up to OUR expectations. When he got his $9 million or so per year, we collectively raised our hopes for what we thought he might be. Generally speaking, the fan base decided that Green's insane athletic ability and fairly large contract would add up to a day-in, day-out, high-teen, low-20 point scoring output. After the departure of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, we looked at Green and said "well, I guess you're our first option now," and thrust upon him our own ideas of what that would be."
Again the blog is assuming and lumping everyone into a group when I completely disagree with them. STop saying the entire fanbase thinks this like the world revolves around you? Assuming. Jumping to conclusions. Very different than a lot of people think. The thing is I think i get it for the most part and realize Green and Rondo haven't even had a full offseason yet to work on things but people continue to write stuff and assume things. It takes time. These guys are human beings and work on their craft.
I read these comments all the time on blogs and it's people who are so full of themselves I Don't know what to say. Noone cares. They don't think logically. They forget the aren't in the lockerroom and have no clue what is going on and dont' even respect 90 percent of what danny ainge says and say they are fans and then speak for the entire fanbase.
The world does not revolve around the internet. I get on here when I really shouldn't be and had a better life because I worked at it, but stuff like that is so annoying. How fast I type speaks to that fact that it's a waste of time. I have a CS degree regardless and you'd think I'd know how to use a computer. I can take the time to write something nice and good and 90 percent of the time people are going to assume something over the internet regardless.
I'm a fan and don't think that. I find what you write disrespectful to me as a fan of this team. I try to see other pov's too and who cares. It's drama. Let these guys do their jobs. Jim Mora is the best. You think you know but you just don't know.
The internet is a crazy train of speculation when you aren't in the lockerroom and don't know. It becomes assumed that this is reality or fact when it's not. People are followers that way and why the media is such a crock of poo. I bet solme people think this is a rant too when it's actually very funny and true.
I like Jeff Green regardless. Hope he does well in whatever he decides to do. i also share his opinion that blogs suck. It's a bunch of gossip. Let the man do his job. Enjoy the games. Watch them. It's actually good.
The thign is Jeff has talent you say but you don't write anything about how he can improve on that because you've already labelled him. He can improve and that would be good for the celtics vs just trading him constantly. Even still I'd let Stevens work with him on how to improve. He has him coming in in different shape and studying certain things. No blog site had him doing that.

I was deciding between sports management or computer science when I went to school. I'm a computer nerd and a jock at the same time. You should hear me talk about computers sometime. Bill Gates made billions off computers. Limits his kids time on them. What does that tell you?
I think technology is a distraction and a waste of time for the most part and is completely unnecessary. It's also a false sense of reality. Or people really are that ignorant sometimes which is a shame.

The truth is just because someone created a blog and set up shop on the internet doesn't mean he knows anything more about basketball than my next door neighbor. It does show they are entrepreneurial and trying to make something of themselves. Does it mean they are in it for the Celtics? Or out for themselves? That's a good question though. They manage to take the attention away from the Celtics.
Who knows who these people are ultimately.
I tend to root for Jeff Green in a different way is all I feel. I think he can improve and everything but never been on the trade Jeff bandwagon. I think he can still do well. He isn't at that level for no reason. I think blog sites in general have different motivations than me.
I'm rooting for jeff to do well because that in turn is good for Jeff. It's good for the Celtics. It's good for everyone. I'm not rooting for him to fail. There's very little drama in that.

I think several players have a chip on their shoulder for various reasons. Rondo is in a contract year and wants to earn that max deal.
Green is tired of all those inconsistent tags he has earned and wants to be a leader and prove to people that he can be consistent.
Sully has a chip to prove all the teams wrong that passed on him in the draft and he wants to show the Celtics they made the right pick.
Smart is playing for his brother that passed away and he wants to be the best he can be.
Zeller had a down year last year because of health issues and wants to earn the starting center job.
Bass, KO and Sully are all fighting for that starting 4 spot.
Bradley wants to prove that he is worth the big contract he just got.
So, there are a lot of players with chips and who want to win. It should be a fun year.

Well JGreen can opt out after this year and we have Turner and Young waiting in the wings. The same goes for Rondo and Smart. But these guys should have something to prove imo this year because it's not set in stone who is going to be what.
I more kind of hope JGreen just does it for himself though and the celtics. These guys play for the fans too but when I read articles from celticsblog and was reading an article in the globe yesterday from red's army where these guys are making it about them and fighting jeff green on it, I'll go with Jeff Green on that. Too much me and all that with that stuff imo. These guys need to create an identity as a team and personal accomplishments are part of that. I think if anything Stevens has set goals and parameters for these guys and that's important what each individual wants to achieve etc..
When I hear these bloggers talking about how they created this great network that's all well and good but I installed networks and set up the hardware for it the generation before. But I feel stupid sayng that because it's kind of irrellavant. I'm a fan of the celtics. The internet is what it is. Am I fan of it? I guess in ways but in other ways not so much. I'm more here because I'm a fan of the celtics. So I'll go with Jeff Green on that one.
Too much drama. It's my dad can beat up your dad stuff. When I go to games I'm the same way. I go to watch the games. It's about the fans and all that nowadays and the fans are involved and it's this look at me thing. But even still. It's the same thing with fans chanting for greg oden when pierce was having a great game. I'm like i'm watching pierce have a great game. Is anyone else seeing this? I remember during the playoffs I was at a game with my coworker and everyone started to leave. I'm like the game isn't over Pierce needs to get mad seeing that stuff. My friend knew i was mad. I spent the rest of the game getting punched in the arm as pierce brought the celtics back from down 25 points.
Is that relavant? Not really. But a lot fans are so self absorbed they forget to watch the games sometimes and forget why we are here. I got to see that comeback. A lot of people missed it.

Right now we have Turner and Green. We have Rondo. Sully has been in the league for 3 years. All these guys have their personal goals. We have Smart. We have James young. Tyler Zeller. I don't see why we can't be better than expected. It might not work out that way but we have pieces here regardless. Ainge himself said Rondo is motivated not because he wants a contract but because it bothers him when he isn't the best or considered the best. That can mean a lot of things. From the celtics standpoint. For Rondo. For fans and everything. We are set up where we can trade him but that's not set in stone.
Smart is a guy who can be as good as Rondo. James young can be as good as green. But we have these guys now. They are also in their prime. It doesn't mean Turner is going to stick either. Or Pressey or whoever. There are options here. We can keep Green and Rondo and get rid of Turner and Pressey. It really depends.

Turner is signed for 2 years. Green has a player option after this year. It will be interesting to see what happens there. DA knows what he is doing there. Maybe by then Green will have had enough and opt out but we will see.
I think by midseason depending on where we are at etc Ainge has had an open line of communication with these guys where trades may happen but even that depedns. If the celtics are doing really well that's going to be difficult. If the celtics are near the bottom and jeff green is the same player he's always been trades may be made. I'm not sure we want that though.
