This team could go in a lot of directions, but I'm still of the belief that the C's are gonna move a lot of their vets this season. I'm going with 25 wins.

47 wins. Rondo wins MVP. The Red Sox and Patriots are bad. Someone has to be good in this town. That's how it works usually. The Red Sox were thought to be bad they win the world series. They are thought to be good they stink. Same with the pats. Everyone is assuming the Celtics are going to be bad so I'll go with that.
Rondo has his work cut out for him getting the mvp award away from Lebron in Cleveland. Clear favorite there. I'm sort of joking but it's either going to be this or we are going to be really bad. I don't see why this is any less possible than anything else.
The safe bet is saying we are going to slightly build on last seasons success which may seem realistic. The Celtics are the Celtics. Not many teams can come out of nowhere and do something like this. Boston sports teams can. It's been proven and isn't some delusion either.
DA has been drafting well. I think the continuity starts to pay off. Late in drafts and I can see this turning into an all out rebuilding year but I'll lean the positive route. It's still very early. I like what Stevens is doing just starting off with a blank slate and letting guys compete for jobs. That could mean a lot of different things. I haven't even seen this team take the court yet. I think the early part of the year will be telling. We get off to a good start rondo comes back and jumpstarts us. Or we just go through the motions. It's difficult to say without seeing this team yet.
It's a long season regardless and it's not over when it hasn't even started yet. Not a big fan of win predictions particularly with basketball because basketball in general has always been a marathon and not a sprint. Even preseason is somewhat meaningful in that regard just to get a feel of where we are at. How Sully looks etc. And KO those are going to be important factors.
38 wins was my realistic impression with a healthy rondo all through camp. 29 wins is the slight improvement route. Or we are just bad. I'm going with we are going to be shockingly good though. One of these years its going to come together. Might as well be this one.

Realistically with the next two drafts coming up being important for us these last two years would more than likely be rebuilding years but I'll still believe it when I see it. I think guys like Rondo, Green, Bradley, Sully and Bass give us a chance to be much better than that and turnaround quicker. Plus we just have a deep roster in general. It really depends. That can go either way. Players can be without true roles or we can just be a deep team. It's hard for me to say we are going to be bad because down our whole roster. Turner, KO, Smart, Pressey, Zeller etc. These are all good players. young and haven't gel'd yet. I'm still banking on that and guys like Rondo and Green until it proves itself otherwise. Ainge has hung onto these guys because he's still moving forward with them and determining who is going to fit where.
It really comes down to whether Rondo and Green are going to deliever and whether Ainge got them enough help and whether these guys gel this year. I'm still open to that for this year. We haven't gotten tha tbig draft pick or star player but Ainge has been building this way and still evaluating that and what roles guys will fill.
I think in general most people completely misinterpret what Ainge is doing that way. If things don't work out we may move onto other things but that hasn't been proven yet. We are still trying to put together a team that can compete and win games.
I bet if you asked Ainge he would say he is definitely still open to that. A lot of fans aren't and are completely set that we are rebuilding and have already traded Rondo when we haven't. He isn't evn up for contract yet.
As long as Rondo is here we aren't in a full out rebuild. It's still possible we are retooling.

I say 45 wins. I'm always optimistic and think that this team will surprise people. But then again, I thought they would surprise people last year. Well, I guess they surprised me because I expected them to win 49 games

Improvement from last year. 27 wins. But that will earn us a top 5 pick this year

Nothing wrogn with optimism. I think realistically we've improved too much for it to equal just a few wins in the win column although rondo being out again doesn't help. We lost Humphries and Bayless from last year and Crawford was here for parts as well when rondo was out. I think Stevens having a full offseason with this team is going to pay dividends in some way. Never been someone to go along with the consensus anyways because they are wrong about everything else usually. Win predictions are just a guessing game. I can see 29 wins. I can see 38 wins. Or us having a very suprising season. Depending on injuries and trades and how things go. There is no telling ultimately. But the direction of this team has pretty much stayed where it is. Time will tell. I think Stevens has these guys doing the right things and that's only going to pay off. IT's a players league though. I think Stevens is a guy who knows how to get players to improve though.
I'm a skeptic too but more skeptical about people's knowledge on the internet. I trust what I hear from Aiange and Stevens because I agree. They are focused on the right things and getting these guys prepared. It's really wait and see. I don't think they've really made any judgements in that regard. Talentwise we are very young and on paper probably not a team you'd put towards the top. So we have work to do and things to focus on. I think that's how they are going about it.
I'll go the positive route any day unless we really are that bad. I think this team can go a lot of directions right now. Some teams are that bad. I don't think we necessarily are. I think this team can legitamently surprise some people. As long as Rondo is here we aren't in a full out rebuild. Decisions haven't been made on that yet.
It could be this year. It could a couple years. It could be 5 but something tells me Stevens and Ainge have this team moving in the right direction. That is our direction. We have talent too. Which parts stay and how long that takes to get the right pieces is anyones guess right now. I think that's the truth. The Celtics themselves don't know. If they did I'd be concerned because they shouldn't. It's still very early in the building process. I feel like this is a bridge year but we could go further into the rebuilding process. I don't think that is necessarily the intent as of now.
The only thing that would surprise me this year is if we don't win a game. We aren't tanking. Rondo averaging over 20 ppg and Jeff Green pulling down 10 boards would surprise me as well. I could actually see Avery Bradley scoring 50 points in one game this year. That wouldn't surprise me.

Hey, they could theoretically go on a 19-1 run the rest of the season and then I'd be right! As the great philosopher KG once said... "Anything is posibleeeeeeee!!"

With 27 wins thus far, and with 19 games remaining in the regular season, what would you estimate we finish with?
Keep in mind we are playing a lot better as of late, even against playoff teams. We are currently playing better than our record indicates.
I say 38 wins (we go 11 - 8 the rest of the way).
