there i said it. The last two games it's end of season and against weak competition in meaningless games but I remember pierce as a rookie and he had these games where I just knew. He didn't even play a ton but was that x factor. I remember pierce in particular hitting this running hook shot amidst like 4 defenders as a rookie and was like Pierce is next. Here are highlights from the cleveland game www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kQrXe4kr_Yhe's bombing 3's. cutting off the ball. he's smart and active on the glass and tapping balls to his teammates. He's drivng the lane like a guard. Watch 1:30 he goes between the legs crosses over and then just muscles his way to the hoop. His highlights tonight aren't up yet but are even more impressive. It's end of the season but I think these were statement games in ways. I dont see how teams are going to be able to stop a 7 footer who can do all those things. He fades away has post moves. He dribbles like a guard and is smart and a really good passer. he's also been all over the glass. KO is a future star. Maybe even superstar imo. If we dont get wiggins or parker this draft and get embiid he is our guy imo. If we get wiggins or some ridiculous talent then he might be our pierce. But he's going to be up there. Sully is talented as well with his hustle and ability. He had some pretty monstrous performances earlier this year. I'm not as sold on him yet, but we have some sick young players.

Here's sully www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT9nh33nmdEI think sully is reminiscent of pierce in how skilled he is. and his mindset. He never stops seemingly and has a confidence about him. He's a warrior like Pierce. his height is going to be a disadvantage but look at how skilled he is. These are very very good players potentially. They are here to stay imo. I don't think i'm getting carried away with this stuff either. I think these guys are very young but for real. we need rim protection and defense to go with these guys but they are going to put up numbers and are our core.

I don't know about star, definitely not a superstar, but I can tell you this much -- I've exponentially become an Olynyk fan this season, and I find myself cheering for him as much as I do for Sullinger and Pressey. I look forward to seeing Kelly grow and develop his game, and watch the two headed monster of Sully and Kelly at PF.
This coming from the guy who wasn't thrilled about drafting him last summer. That's how much of an impression Olynyk has left on me.

The Celtics when they were good before typically have like 3 or 4 allstars on their team that's my thinking. bird, McHale, parish, dj. not sure if ainge every made an allstar game but he was an important piece. rondo, ray, pierce, kg were all allstars as well with perk being that important piece. I think players once the team is actually good kind of all make themselves better that way. It's possible Rondo, Sully, Ko and whoever we draft this year are all allstar players or borderline once they all develop

here's highlights of Kelly from last night www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGesuEaVjDADude is a beast. I love how he is taking it strong to the hoop now. He even took a charge this game. I think he and sully may struggle with teams that have big front lines but they are so versatile it won't matter. Plus not many teams have centers in the league. If we are bigger up front and have size ourselves sully and ko are going to get theirs and have field days. Ainge said he wasn't a star. But I am starting to disagree. I can see where he is a piece and a roleplayer but Ainge in the past has downplayed players and said a young player is this or that and has said that player actually becomes better than he thought. KO could be one of those guys. I think he more is just not putting pressure on Kelly and he could be much better than even DA envisioned. There is something special about him to me. He has some of that dirk and larry bird to him if he is allowed to be that. We may draft a superstar and a #1 option though. It depends on how much he wants it and to be that guy. He is somewhat unselfish. His skillset is there though. He can't jump but who cares when you are 7 feet and have teh skills he does.

Rondo' s face at 3 seconds in that video is funny to me as well. We have been playing better with pressey but rondo is watching. Rondo needs to get in gear and push the tempo and give the b all up to these guys.
That's a sick pass by Bradley to start things off btw. Rondo is like holy (censored) that (censored) is disgusting. Pressey has some really nice looks there as well. Rondo is talking to Kelly. Giving some respect.

Pressey and Olynyk have good chemistry with each other.

I'm liking it. Wasn't feeling this year overly but next year is going to be fun imo. This was a long year for Celtics basketball.
I think between pressey and rondo we have a good combination there. KO is getting me excited for next season.

I don't share your level of excitement. Then again, I put absolutely no stock in these final games. Olynk could score 40 points against basically the D-league Sixers and I still wouldn't really get excited. I just believe it'll be a longer process. I expect another down year unless we make some serious moves or really luck out in the draft with our pick. Hopefully, players will continue to progress and get better. I think they have all shown to be hard workers and that counts for a lot in the NBA.

I'm fine with the process of it and being patient. I just am not so mindless about it I guess. there are more established big men in the league but if you look around the league I think you'd be hard pressed to fine me someone who has KO's skillset. He's going to mature and get better. Not many if any big men have his ability to score in the paint, move off the ball, shoot from the perimeter, put the ball on the floor and pass like he does. I think that to me makes me think he is not ordinary.
as a fan I've always been able to see these things. people thought I was n uts when I knew emmitt smith would be good. same with pierce. stars are made not born. Kelly to me may not be an all time great or something but he is going to n ot be an ordinary player. it takes time for players to mature but not that long.
these guys do need to work on their games but I don't think the Celtics are stupid. I think they know how to bring players along and that's why I think he'll be fine in a lot of ways barring some unforeseen circumstance. If this was jerry jones drafting some talented prospect i'd think otherwise. danny ainge knows what he's doing and so does brad stevens.
jimmy Johnson knew was he was doing with those cowboys teams and I saw it. jerry not so much. the Celtics know what they are doing. danny might not be the greatest gm on the planet or red auerbach but he's pretty damn good.
as a fan i'm more just excited about the prospects of it.

danny was smart enough to draft KO and find him. Emmitt smith was a player who was overlooked too. Tom Brady. Good gms find these guys that aren't just talent or hyped. Danny knows what he is doing. He found rondo and sully and all these guys. might not be the most hyped prospects in the world but if you look at their skillset and what they bring they aren't ordinary players.
I'm not ready to put KO in that class of players either. I think he has a ways to go and may never reach that level. Brady and Emmitt had something going on under the hood that was something else. They had something to prove. I don't know if any you ng players in the league has the drive of those guys. Even Pierce. Players today are too spoiled and pampered by my estimation. They have it too easy. But his skillset is pretty good if you look around the leage and compare him to other big men.
I think it's realistic to think he could be an allstar player if he works at his game. I don't see any reason why he won't either. Why I think he probably will be.
All signs point to that he is a good kid and a hardworker. So is sully. Sully has some injury concerns to me though and some issues with his height but he's a warrior. I don't see any signs of KO getting ahead of himself. He seems pretty down to earth.

I think where KO may struggle is against bigger stronger more physical big men. KO is not what i would say physically gifted in the classic sense but he still is. He's 7 feet. But he's already getting those charges down a bit and how he moves his feet, his awareness and where he positions his 7 foot frame, and how he goes up for shots. AS he adds strength and quickness he's going to get better against better big men. He's still very young and he's dominated lesser teams but soon enough and as he matures he will be doing the same against the big boys in the nba I hope.
He's like a AA baseball prospect right now where he plays well against lesser competition right now. Sometimes prospects like that take time and ultimately put up the same numbers against MLB competition. Sometimes they don't. that remains to be seen obviously.
I am obviously making a projection here. We will see how good a scout I am I guess. Could be wrong but he impressed me the last couple games. He has a wa ys to go even still.

The issue with KO to me is he has basically modelled his entire game after dirk. That leg kick he does on fadeaways and everything. he has said he would watch dirk and go out to the playground and practce all his moves. Not a bad guy to model yourself after but you rarely see an all time great who is exactly like another player. Not sure he has that same inner desire and creativity that Dirk had.
Kobe was a jordan clone though and did pretty well. Kobe would even fake try to sound like jordan with his voice and comments and i used to really dislike this about kobe is he was not really his own person. I don't think KO is weird like that though. kobe was obsessed with jordan. KO is his own person. He just likes to try to emulate Dirk. He even has his number.
most kids do that in some regard so it's no big deal.
Guys like James Worthy were self made players though. You have all these guys in the league that try to emulate these guys. Jeff Green has had his struggles with that where he might look like james worthy but he isn't james worthy. I think KO's skillset is much further along than Jeff's though for a guy that age.
Paul Pierce was his own player though and had his own inner drive. Kobe was rare thatway because it was after the whole jordan thing with players trying tobe like him and kobe was just completely obsessed. I still think Kobe is somewhat overrated in that regard.
I think Sully is more a self made player but even he models his game after Kevin Love. It's smart to do that and why not if you know that will bring success, but that's when this stuff almost becomes too processed and generic.
I think even this draft thi syear is somewhat overrated in that regard because it's talented but i'm not really seeing guys who are that special like that. Marcus Smart stands out in this class but even he isn't the end all be all.

as a fan I've always been able to see these things. people thought I was n uts when I knew emmitt smith would be good. People that said you were crazy for thinking Emmitt would be good needed to get their heads examined. Emmitt was a 1st round pick from a very successful college program, and he was coming to a team that was already piecing together one of the league's all time great offensive lines. That is a recipe for success.
