I think Gomes' major stumbling block will be defense. He's not quick enough to handle quicks 3s, and hes awfully short compared to some 4s. Best case scenario, he becomes a nice offensive weapon off the bench. I try to take the summer league with a grain of salt. That second rounder we had a couple of years ago (cant remember his name. he was an undersized 4) is a perfect example of how summer league success doesn'r uqual NBA success.

I think Gomes has played so well in the summer league that Ainge and Rivers may be looking a few years down the line and calculating whether Gomes can be a starter for us. He has a knack of getting things done and that all comes from a player's natural intuitiveness.

I seem to remember something from DraftCity which said that Gomez was very good at positioning himself on defense.

From what I've seen of him during his college career, he's not a defensive standout, but a solid guy who uses his body to bump his man and disrupt his timing. He moves his feet well, sliding over to stay in front of his man and he keeps his hands up in the air.

CF00, I agree with you about Gomes being a better scorer than Rose. Maybe a better rebounder than Eric. The SA winning system made Rose better. Rose is overrated now due to his contract. Gomes comes way cheaper so Rose for Walker wouldn't really be a good trade. I wanted it before but now I don't.
