It'll most likely come down to LA beating the Suns, so barring a surprise, this year's Finals will be a repeat of the 2008 Finals.
I'm feeling pretty good about our chances, and have my reasons--and I'm pretty sure lots of you also feel good about our chances.
So post here why you think we'll beat the Lakers and be champs again.
The Boston Celtics is not a just team of basketball players, but it embraces a world wide family of individuals who bleed green and follow the team through thick and thin. No such thing as fair weather Celtics fans.
DEFENSE. Neither OK, nor Utah (especially with Okur and Kirilenko out) nor Phoenix have the quality interior defenders that we do in Perk, KG, Rasheed and even Baby. Nor do any of the Laker opponents play with the aggression and energy that we do on defense. I think it will take LA a couple of games to get used to it, which will allow us to jump out to an early series lead, with 3 in a row in Boston.
Point Guards: From Brooks last year, to Westbrook this year, the Lakers chronically have trouble containing quick point guards, and Rondo is better than ever. A rested Rondo will give LA fits, and hopefully a rejuvenated Nate Robinson can give us some good minutes as well. Plus TA has had some good games against LA.
i sort of want to see a rondo and nash showdown. it's going to be a great series regardless. i think where we win is experience. we are a balanced team who plays defense first with not many weaknesses if any when at full tilt. our one knock is consistency and showing our age at times. but like me and c17 were talking about it's more the fact it's pretty obvious the nba tries to extend these series. I dont think they are fixing the series, where they don't allow the better team to win. But they are trying to sell as many tickets and bring in as much cash as they can. It just bothers me when they put players careers in jeapordy with that bs. It's not a conspiracy. It's a known fact at this point that they do this.
Because the Lakers will be worn down running up and down with the Suns and playing hardly any D. Which means a repeat of 2008..offense vs defense. I only worry how much trouble Artest might give to Pierce but other than that, Rondo will run Fisher out of the court. And again, with no Howard to block his shots, Rondo will carve it up.
THE BOSTON CELTICS ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!
If we face the Lakers the defense by our bigs will once again be key. Rondo has been the key to every series and will continue to be a key in this series, no matter which team we play. He makes the offense run.

I hope it's LA and not Phoenix. The Suns are too much like the Magic with the uptempo style and 3 ball specialist but with a much better point guard. Plus their zone defense could force the C's to shoot from the outside more. Rondo's improve in that area but I don't want to championship to hinge on Rondo's perimeter shooting.

1) As Doc pointed out, this starting 5 has never lost a playoff series.
2) We're better than two years ago. We beat better teams and took fewer games to do it. Rondo's growth into a premier PG is obviously the biggest reason. Meanwhile ...
3) The Lakers aren't really any better. They have Bynum this time but he's gimpy. Artest replaces Ariza, but I'm not sure that's a significant upgrade. Having said that, Go Suns! Aside from wanting LA to lose as early as possible, I just don't fear the Suns.
4) Celtics are more battle-tested, having gone through the top 2 teams in the league record-wise.
5) The Fakers have NEVER beaten the Celtics when the C's were healthy. In '85 Max was out and in '87 half our team was wounded. LA just can't beat us if we're at full strength.

Celtics in 5 vs Fakers i think are defense is top the play Thunder young Utah very small Phoenix no defense enough say another thing i think artest is very slow to guard pierce just run some picks but Rondo will be the kid because he has the biggest advantage if is phoenix am more worry believe me having Perk and Kg run out to the 3 point line not very good

Celtics in no more than 6. They don't play much defense out west. How many games did the Lakers win where the opposing team scored over 100 points. They just try to outscore you. I don't think that will work against the Celtics. Our bigs are better than theirs and Pierce is better than Artest. Rondo will run Fisher ragged. Kobe is great, but he will have to work hard on defense. As jmost pointed out, the Lakers have never beaten us when we are healthy. Also, as Doc said, this starting five has never lost a playoff series.
