Huge disappointment.....they came out and were the aggressors, and we never matched it. Simply outplayed, all game. Difficult to understand that they were the same 2 teams we saw in Cleveland....

We were bad at home all year...Could be that trend followed us into the playoffs..maybe we'll be better in Cleveland.

But the referees were pretty fair today. The calls went both ways. Thank you. It's great to see some objectivity in CG. The refs were fine in this game. Cleveland was just the supremely better team. Like Mev said in an earlier post, this game can signal one of two things. That Boston just wasn't ready for Cleveland's energy after that game 2 beat down, or Cleveland has woken up from their funk and are out to prove they are the dominant team in this series. Obviously game 4 will go a long way in deciding that. But if you want some hope, you only have to look to Celtic history for proof that a dominant win doesn't mean that a team is through. Look at game one of the 1985 finals. We beat LA so bad that the game is still known as the Memorial Day Massacre. After that, LA went on to win 4 out of 5 and wrap up the NBA title.

Yeah, and there was Game 3 in 1984 when Bird called out his team for playing like "sissies" after getting blown out by the Lakers. But the difference is that in neither case was it the home team that got blown out. This was embarrassing. In 50 years of watching Celtic basketball I've never seen a good Boston team that plays with less heart at home.

yeah cleveland was making shots like was said but our defense was so lax all game imo. We were lax on both ends looking for calls. It's like we came out expecting to lose this one. The look on the players faces was that of defeat from the get go. I agree that the team needed to be called out on this one.

How a team can come out so flat in playoff game against the perennial favorites is mind boggling. Pierce doesn't look right either. He's settling for jumpers and 3 pointers too often especially when the team needed some inside presence. If Rondo can go to hoop and take hits so can he IMO. In a way, I'm glad this team doesn't have home court advantage anymore because they get more discourage at home than on the road. They seem to bounce back from adversity much better on the road.

More random thoughts on game #3:
>3rd game of the series, where Pierce won't drive the lane (and settles for the outside shot).
>I thought at times, the C's were late rotating on defense, which allowed open looks.
>The officiating was odd. Whenever a BOS player got hacked inside, no call, but Shaq got called for a few offensive fouls.
>Reason Nate-Rob doesn't play...he hoisted 10 shots in 13 shots @the end, and only made 3 of them (I thought they were the first 3 too).

I went to this game and was extremely pissed at their lack of effort...it literally looked like they were rotating 5 seconds late on defense and all I can remember seeing is Cleveland getting layup after open look after open look which is why they shot basically 60% in the game....The officiating wasn't atrocious like games 1 and 2 but that technical on KG when Varejao did his conniving little ways was pretty bad....Rondo was literately the only one moving on offense and on defense nobody was moving around with a purpose...I was extremely disappointed but I believe fully that this game was a blow out because the Celtics came out like it was practice while Lebron and co. came out like it was a must-win...If we right the ship we can take game 4 and it'll be tough to steal another one in Cleveland where the refs are more lopsided towards Cleveland
Although it is interesting to note that we do foul more because Cleveland attacks more than us but I think we may attack less because of the lack of calls we do get inside

Not to pull conspiracy theories as who knows, but I'm starting to wonder if the celtics have cededed that this series is going to be a long one because that is what hte league wants. the way the officials were set up this game it's almost like the c's just came out and didn't expect to win. It was just kind of bizarre that we would come out so lax in a 1-1 series and our 1st game at home. You'd think they'd want to take this one but it was like they didn't care.
The entire mood fo the game like you said was just lazy defense and from the get go we were looking for calls and looking at eh officials like they had 3 heads.
I'm not saying the NBA is fixed but it's somewhat bizarre how some of these series play out. Teams can look like absolute (censored) one game and then come back and get the job done the next. Hopefully we do that but it is kind of bizarre.

The only difference I saw from CLE in game #3, versus games 1,2, was that Lebron didnt hesitate to take shots from the outside.
