Its the league of superstars. If you don't have one you aren't going to win many. Durant, Wade, Lebron, CP3. The refs are favoring the young superstars of today and its ruining the game. The only way to fix this is forcing refs to take responsibility. I have been giving this thought and if I were commish, here is what I would do : - After the game, refs are required to take a lie detector test while the crowd is still in the arena. The question asked will be "did you referee this game fairly" and based on those results, 8 points will be added to the losing team if the ref fails to give a positive answer and the ref will be fined 5000 dollars (considering they don't get paid much, thats alot). A good team would have kept close and 8 points might either tie it or win it. OR! - I would relax the rules, bring it back to the old school days where hacking wouldn't get you fouled and remove all this nannying of players. Which means old school playground type rules..fighting, punching won't get you T-ed up..not even if you punch a ref.

I see everyone is conveniently leaving out Kendrick Perkins quote on why he thinks they lost the game. Glad to see someone in Celtic nation has a little personal accountability and doesn't need to pout about the refs or blame things on some boogeyman conspiricy theory.

He claims the defense were slow to rotate and some missed assignments lost us the game. But its a matter of whether you trust KG's claims that the refs were ridiculous or Perkins claims that defense was bad. Well my take on it is that in a way, they are both right. How do you play defense when you're just waiting for the damn whistle to blow at any minute. It greatly affects your rhythm and when they are scoring bucket for bucket with you, obviously you're more worried about keeping the scoring coming over defense. I mean its all very well for Perkins to say all that but he sat out most of the 4th if not all of the 4th i think. Its really hard to play defense when you've seen through 3 quarters, refs continually blowing the whistle against you. It really messes up rotations and rhythm. So yeah it all comes down to the refs..if the refs are dead set against you, you just ain't winning a game.

I actually got to watch this game. Sure, there were some bad calls,. but bad defense lost us the game, not the refs. Mev got it right on his post on page 1.

And the weak side defense just was a step slow all night. Perk will never make excuses and I love that about him. But, as you say, when you are getting mauled and when you are getting called for fouls even when you don't commit them, then it has to affect the way you play defense. When players get 2 or 3 quick fouls against them, it affects the way they play the rest of the game. A lot of the problems on defense are a result of the way the game is being called.

Yeah its like the commentators always say at the start of games, "listen to how the refs call it and adapt to their calls" but if the Celtics did that, they might as well stand in a row a throw out the welcome mat everytime Durant goes to the hoop.
