I liked Lester and think he has what it takes to play in this league. I was disappointed that they waived him. I know it was because of the non guaranteed contract but think they may have mad a mistake by letting him go. It's obvious Memphis thinks he can play since they claimed him off waivers and didn't even give him a chance to clear.

Yeah I thought Lester had some promise but I guess the Cs didn't think so. Hope he has a good career though..Sometimes the scouts are wrong and certain guys see the insult and decide to work harder and longer at the gym to bounce back and prove teams wrong.

I'm actually scratching my head a bit. I thought Hudson had a future with the team. Certainly not a contributor for our title run this year, but in the next few years when we start to re-make our roster, I thought Hudson could have been our backup PG.
He was certainly better than Gabe Pruitt, I thought.

I don't think this was about whether or not the Cs liked Hudson; I think they do. But they also likely surmised that he would not help with this year's run towards a banner. With 15 guys signed, they didn't have any open roster spots, and he was the only one (I think) they had the flexibility to waive.

We had 15 with Lester. So if they cut him, either Ainge is possibly looking to add someone like Tyronne Lue (who won't have to be acquired via a trade), or Ainge is making a multi player trade in which we bring in more players than we give up.

Even if this is just to save money, I'm fine with it. Hudson was not going to be a big part of this year's team, and talent like his can be found late in the 2nd round almost any year. If Wyc and Co wanted to save some $$$ by jettisoning a unnecessary player, I can't fault them.

he wasnt doing much and his upside isnt huge. maybe ainge just felt they could use that roster spot for something else. I have no idea. I agree with you guys that lester didnt really get a chance here but maybe Ainge saw enough and his upside and where he was at didnt really warrent a roster spot and it was that simple. The c's are trying to win now and maybe the roster space is more valuable. I agree lester can play in this league. he wouldnt ahve been drafted if he couldnt. this really isnt a deterrent to him, just a bump in the road. he's still young and can catch on somewhere else.

It seems to me like this move gives more weight to the Nate Robinson rumors.

It seems to me like this move gives more weight to the Nate Robinson rumors. Which is what I'm thinking. Not necessarily Nate, but moving Lester to make room for someone, or even bringing in more players than we are giving out. Lester was a cheap player who at the very least had a shot to be a backup on our future squad. He's strong, tough, plays defense, and can score. For us to get rid of him implies to me that we're looking to bring someone else in.
