This entire game was like watching a game in slow motion including the clock.

How in the world do we lose against the Clippers for the second year in a row! For such a good team, we can be such idiots sometimes. How do we only score 17 in the fourth against such a bad team, and BLOW 2 free throws at the end? As good as our record is, there has been some pretty bad basketball on our part this year. I am really dumbfounded by our struggles sometimes. Like I've said before, we can beat anybody, but we can also lose to anybody!

<shaking head in disgust> Man, that was a pitiful game.
I hate it when we let junk (and I mean junk) teams hang around. Yeah I know....we turn it on when we want to....., but this is why it bugs me when we do that.
We are a contending team---we should never lose to a team like the Clippers. If the Clippers played their absolute best game against us and win the game, I'd tip my hat to them. But they didn't play well today; we lost this game because we let them hang around.
If we're going to play lax in the first half, we need to go for the jugular in the 3rd quarter and build up a sizable lead.
This is a shameful loss.

To think we beat a top team like the Magic just a couple of days ago with a strong defensive effort, and to lose against a woeful Clippers team cause we don't play with intensity.
Again, we lost this game because we didn't want it enough.

now do you realize what I'm saying that Rondo will never be a star, he can make a triple double in 3 quarters if he wants to, even in one half, but that worth nothing if hr can't win you a game... end of story. When your best option in offense is out, you need from him to step up and take over and win it. He played a great game like always do, and when you need him to make it as a must do = FAIL. How the hell can he shoot 2/3 from the line in the game and when he must score he missed two, I'll tell you how... THE GAME DEPENDS ON HIS FREE THROWS, and he knew it, he (censored) his pants and do what he always do, yeah this time was free throws, some other time is missed shot, or just turnover, but everytime when you need him he (censored) up, YOU CAN'T SAY IT BETTER, he can play great all game, but you never can put the game in his hands, and that's why he will NEVER BE A STAR, no matter what stat machine he is

Blaming this game on Rondo isn't fair. Pierce has missed FT's at end of games as well. Shaq has missed FT's at end of games. I believe Bill Russell wasn't an ace FT shooter either. There's more to being a star than shooting. You can be the defensive anchor (ie. Russell, Howard) or the team's engine (ie Kidd, Rondo). Just my opinion.

Vacationing in LA, went to the game. Our play was up and down, clearly not our best effort. But we could and should have won.
Rondo should have hit his free throws, but he was our best player in the game, despite the misses. Cannot hang this on Rondo, plain and simple. Birdie, your assessment is dead wrong - Rondo is a very good player.
We made mistakes in the end: Rasheed took the corner 3 on a possession in which any points would have made it a 2 possession game. He of course missed it, like he did the 5 before. He is effective in the post, poor behind the arc; why the coaches don't get him to just stop the 3s is beyond me. Butler hit a nice 3, but was also wide open - Doc was on Eddie's case after the shot, so it might have been his assignment.
It would have been nice to win, but it's not the end of the world. Clearly, they came to play against Orlando, and not this game. They can't get up for all 82, and this was one which they just didn't put out full effort, and more importantly concentration.

Relax, everybody. We have still only lost two games on the road. What does that tell you? I know what it tells me: We don't need the best record to win it all this season.

Relax, everybody. We have still only lost two games on the road. What does that tell you? I know what it tells me: We don't need the best record to win it all this season. But the underlying reason is what bothers me. We pick and choose when we want to play hard. Now, this in itself is not entirely wrong. I agree that no team can play intense basketball for 48 minutes. What I mean is we choose to play hard against some teams, and not as hard against other teams. If we took the intensity level we put forth against the Magic and applied it to the Clippers, we would have won this game in the 4th quarter.

We need to be more focused and execute down the stretch in games like this. kuberski said it well imo. He was vacationing there. So were the celtics. Nothing really more needs to be said. I understand what acf is saying minus the everyone relax,l, but i understand what he is saying. Some of you guys come on here and do this every game like its life or death. If you were a coach of the team it would drive me nuts if yu were like that all the time. These guys are human beings. Yeah the celtics usually beat themselves and have the talent when they play their game to beat anyone and need to be more focused at times. But they know that. Doc said the same things. NOthing more really needs to be said.
This team as a norm puts out more effort than any team in the league and it's disrespectful in a way to always focus on the negative.

As far as Rondo did you see those floaters? Yeah he missed those ft's and that was part of the reason why we lost, b ut it was more because of the lack of focus and composure down the stretch and execution like Derren was saying. Derren is right. But at least Rondo was being aggressive and yeah he should make those, but it's more mental.
Overall, Rondo actually was one celtic who had a solid game overall. The problem was it came down to him having to make 2 free throws moreso than him missing them. Win as a team, lose as a team. Yeah Rondo is part of that.

What amazed me this game was how lax we were defensively inside. We weren't physical at all. Perk, KG and Wallace took the night off and let Kaman do what he wanted. We were out of position and missed players in crunch time. It just was not celtics basketball.

I'm glad I missed this one, it sounded like a real stinker. It really doesn't surprise me either. It's human nature to take teams lightly when they are as bad as the Clip show. It's hard to get up for all 82 games and it's going to happen, especially with Pierce out. I'm thankful we beat Orlando and would rather focus on the positive. But they need to be the Warriors and Suns to end the trip and all will be well again.
As for Rondo, he has to hit his FT's. Yes they lost as a team, but as a PG you need to be able to make your FT's. The comparison to Shaq is (no offense) ridiculous, he's a center and centers are not historically good FT shooters.
PG's are your primary ball handlers and should at least be 70% (at worst) FT shooters. If Rondo is indeed worth the raise he gets next year, he needs to stop being a liabilty at the end of games.

This game confuses me so badly
We outrebounded them offensively 12-4
We had 9 steals to their 5
We had 11 turnovers to their 15
But we lost...
Sorry but we played like how the Saints played...overly relaxed, overly confident and no energy. And we lost..
But here is the worst stat of them all 1-12 3 point shooting. A GODDAMN 8.3%. Are u kidding me? Sheed 0-6 from 3 point town..Doc are you there? Did you not see how good Sheed was inside the paint? For Gods Sake can someone tell him not to take 6 a game if he has already missed the first few??
And its hard for me to blame Rondo because the guy did nearly everything..Shot over 50%, Had 6 assists, had 2 steals, only 1 turnover, wasn't in foul trouble and yet he misses crucial free throws..To everyone on this board..how do you blame the only guy bringing energy to the game? Sorry but if every single one of the players gave more effort, we wouldn't even be in a 92-90 situation. We would have been in a 98-78 situation with no worries about the 4th. We cannot keep keeping games close and relying on every lil detail in the fourth to go right for us..thats just plain stupid. Look at Drew Brees and all his comebacks this season from close games..always relying on everything falling into place at the 4th and thanks to that, they've lose twice. We need to stop goddamn living in the fourth and start building leads that would make it harder for them to climb back against. How can we even rest the vets or starters when we keep forcing them to play so many minutes just so we win in the 4th? How do the subs get experience come playoff time when they barely get to play at all since games are so close?
Conclusion : Pathetic effort by the Cs as a whole and Doc needs to start doing a better job. Oh sure defensively we keep them under a 100..Still ain't a win. And if Sheed wants to start coming off the bench as the second center, then he needs to learn to play in the paint where Perkins usually is so that Rondo can feed him in the paint instead of him constantly taking shots from the outside and coming up with pathetic performances like tonight's 4-16 shooting.

I disagree. Just my opinion. don't compare Rondo to Russell, Shaq, Howard Pierce, because they may miss free throws, but they can put 20-30-40 even 50 any night if you need them to do it. There is no problem he missed free throw for me, if that was the 2nd or third quarter, he probably will make them, but when a game is on the line, don't even count him as alive, as a matter of fact I don't even know what the hell is doing he on the floor in that kind of moment, and why with 8,5 seconds he doesn't make some play for someone who can win the game, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Eddie House, Rasheed Wallace, anybody. Everyone else is a 5 time better option than him. Doc Rivers must realize that he need to tell Rondo go ot monster and kill them, but when the clock shows 2 minutes left, you need to call Rondo and tell him all you need to do is get the ball to the halfcourt give it to Pierce, Allen, Garnett, Wallace, House etc. and get out of there, don't even think to shoot, drive to the basket for fauls... Nothing, nada, your time of shining is over when 2 minutes left on the clock
