Rasheed Wallace will join the Celtics next season, multiple media outlets in Boston reported on Sunday.
The team sent managing partner Wyc Grousbeck, team president Danny Ainge, coach Doc Rivers and All-Stars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen to woo the Pistons forward last week, the the Boston Globe reported.
"Rasheed took the first meeting very well and was impressed once it became clear we were talking about the same financial situation," Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland, said, according to the Boston Herald. "He obviously likes the team and the meeting was very effective."
According to the Globe, Wallace will receive a two-year deal for the mid-level exception, believed to be for around $5.6 million per season when the league sets the salary cap next week. The number will be released July 8, the earliest date that teams can officially sign free agents or consummate trades.
Wallace averaged 12 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season for a Pistons team that was swept by the Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs. For his 15-year career, Wallace has averaged 15 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest
Now we can only pray for Rivers - Hill relationship to work aut again, I have to tell you we can't get anybody with his skills and experience for that cheap, and he is a classy like Ray Allen, let's pray to sign Hill, and maybe for Marbury to get his mind right and come back, or get Tyron Lue
Big Baby on his way to Spurs, I wish luck to the fat kid, Tonguay says next one is Hill, Grant Hill in green to the end of the week, oh boy I'm going to cry, 4th player of my all time fave 5 is going to wear a green jersey
yes yes yes, I want Wallace and Hill and I get them, I want to get rid of the fat kid, and I got rid of him, now only thing I want is that these two signings of Wallace and Hill to influence Marbury and make him come back, what are you think, Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, Wallace, Hill, Marbury, Perkins...................... NASTY

Thank goodness we're getting Sheed.
I know that it looked pretty good that we'd land him, but all this time, I had it in the back of my head that maybe he might go to the Spurs, or maybe to the Magic--and now that its confirmed that he's signing with us, I can relax and know that we got the one we wanted!!!
Sheed was the one I wanted. I wanted him over McDyess because I believe his interior presence is better than McDyess'. Both offensively and defensively, I think Sheed works better near the basket.
The Boston Celtics will return to prominence. --Prepare yourself for the Rajon experience

thirstyboots18: I really dislike the way superlatives are thrown around. The official Celtics site has called Antoine Walker a "legend"?????

jrmzt: i agree thirsty. if walker is a legend, what does that make larry legend? it hides the clear distinction between true legends and above avg players

L o Y a L i S t: SOme of those Paul Pierce/Antoine Walker games were legend back in the day, but I agree Walker isnt a legend in the sense of the word. Career avgs of 17.5ppg on 41%FG and 33%3pt with 63%FT adding 7.7rpg, 3.5apg, almost 3 TO's is not legend
