Davis at above the MLE is an economical bad decision, because he was only 8pts, and 5 boards as a bench player. Not really. Baby has room to expand his game to be a low to mid teens scorer and his rebounding can bump up to 6. That's good production from a bench player, and probably worthy of 6 million per year.

i dont think he will get close to mid teen scoring off the bench. he's a 10 and 6 guy off the bench at best which isn't really worth 6 mil a year.

I think his mid range jumper will be his bread and butter. When KG went down, Baby started getting a bigger role on offense, and to his credit, he shouldered it very well. Now that he goes back to the bench, I can see us exploiting that jumper a lot more.

His stats really depend on how many minutes he gets don't they? If he is just the backup to KG he isn't going to get more than 15 minutes a night. If they plan on playing him with KG as Perk rests he could get twice that or a little more, giving him essentially starters minutes.
I'm not the biggest Baby fan out there, but he is clearly continuing to add things to him game - including a fallaway jumper that surprised me. But I still think he's a nice backup but not a star to be.

In that case, Baby's role won't be maximized, meaning his stats won't be all that great. So yes, in that case, paying him 6 million a year isn't that smart.

MLE, take it or leave it.

MLE, take it or leave it. I'm confused here. Since he is our free agent, do we need to use our MLE to sign him? Or does whatever we offer him just count against our salary cap and doesn't touch our MLe or LLE?

Right, resigning your own player doesn't use up the MLE.

So technically, we can use the MLE on someone like say Rasheed or McDyess, use our LLE on a small forward like Barnes, and still give Baby like 5 mil, right?

I'm not sure the LLE even exists anymore.

The LLE exists. It is $1.99 mil this upcoming season.
WE can sign Davis and still have the MLE for other players.
We can't offer Davis more than the MLE amount, though. That is the most he can get from anyone as a Gilbert Arenas Rule player - which he is.
Hope this helps.
