There have been some upsets in the 1st week but there always seems to be. I think the changes in personnel in a lot of teams have changed the dynamics in this league. While a handicapping nightmare, change is good and keeps me coming back.
The Celtics are considered the best team out there right now. Funny how an opening win in Cleveland changes the minds of the media I say. Orlando is right behind with three authoritative wins. The Mavs atoned for that awful home opener loss to Washington with an impressive roadie @ Lakers. Utah appears to be in trouble. I'm surprised at the Suns hot start along with New Orleans at One and Three who dropped a roadie the Bricks right after leaving Boston.
The league is a bit squirrely right now.

Things will balance itself out. The Rockets will come back to earth (without Yao, they ain't going nowhere). The Jazz will get on track.
But we'll remain on top.

I am not surprised at all. Adelman is one of the best NBA coaches out there. They play well on defense. While it is true they don't have the star power of other teams, they are fundamentally sound and will compete for a playoff spot out west along with Utah, Phoenix, New Orleans, and even the Clippers.

You know who else has been surprising? Sacramento. They were the worst team in the league last year, and they lost their best player early on, and I think they are now over .500. Im sure there's no way this'll last, but they do look to have a promising future.

Hmm yeh the Kings sure are playing well. Oh and not to mention the Thunder. Their young team has really developed and their uptempo speed has gotten them some good victories against playoff teams, most notably against the Spurs recently at the Spurs arena. I'm also surprised at how well the Bucks are coping after losing two all stars. But my biggest surprise is how bad the Wizards still are even with a healthy Arenas. I figured they'd be contending for an eastern playoff spot but their record at the moment does not even look like an 8th spot playoff contender. Although I do realize how early it is in the season to be making quick judgements, Caron Butler just does not seem to be the same guy he was, scoring 30 a game while Arenas was injured.
