 I will be shocked ......

I will be shocked, and upset, if Gody is sent to the D-League. I think he's shown that he can play at this level, and contribute too.

Hustle guy who is constantly moving (even on defense), can knock down three's, and he's even picking up garbage points as well. What more can you ask for from a guy late off the bench?

I will also be shocked if Lasme does not beat out Wafer.

We have Delonte, we have Marquis, and we even have Nate who can fill in at the 2. Wafer is redundant.

But Lasme is a taller player who can fill in at the 3 primarily, but also a bit at the 4, and from what I'm seeing, is quite athletic, and has some basketball IQ.

We'd be better off with his versatility.

I agree with Wafer not being as impressive but its hard to deny his long range threat against opponents. Lasme I like for his defensive prowess which will be useful if he can prove himself especially against guys like Lebron or Carmelo.

We have Delonte as a perimeter shooter off the bench. Marquis has improved in this area, and Nate is also a capable perimeter threat.

Even Gody is knocking down deep jumpers.

If Wafer was a lights out shooter, then maybe I'd consider keeping him--but he's not. More important is having a wing player with length to guard opposing 3's. Lasme is not the perfect candidate, but he's one who we are considering.

True. But i think Wafer should be a card kept in the deck just in case. Marquis does have durability issues, Delonte wont be around for the first 10 games and Nate is backing up Rondo so...in terms of backup for Pierce, its not exactly solid all the way through. But I agree..Lasme defensively would be good to just stick him on someone like Lebron to give Pierce a rest and to ensure Lebron doesn't just run rampage all over Wafer and score more while Pierce is out.

Its also because I'm not a fan of Wafer--I just don't see him as a efficient, productive player. Again, if he's a lights out pure shooter, then I'd give him more props.--he could serve a role like Michael Finley did last year (a perimeter threat deep off the bench). But he's not a pure shooter, and he's not a defensive player, and he's not a guy who we can slide over at the 3.

I still think Gody is the odd man out of the big man rotation this year, I'd rather him get some salt in the D league than hand out towels on the bench on the main team.

Gody was a 4 year college player. I don't think he is d-league bound unless we just have to put him somewhere where he can play.

bradley is most likely the guy who would get sent there if anyone.

The thing is I think we are going to use our bench this year... So if players get sent there it will be a back and forth thing.

I'd say Marquis' durability issues are the reason that Lasme should beat out Wafer for that last spot. We need a 3 who can defend the bigger 3's and Wafer isn't it. Lasme on the other hand is very capable of just that. I'd also say that rebounding on that second unit should also be considered and we would get more rebounding from Lasme than from Wafer. I think all around Lasme just brings more to the table.

I love Harangody. He is proving that he can play with the big guys. I love his tenacity on rebounding. You know if he was shooting hook shots instead of those shot put 3's, I'd think he was Tommy Heinsohn reincarnated. He reminds me a lot of a young Tommy.

I can't say I am surprised that 'gody is a fringe role player. He was a 4-player in the college, w/ an above average work ethic. Doesn't have the athleticism of the NBA, however he has worked on improving different aspects of his game(outside shooting).

Gody is just a guy who produces on the basketball court. Whether its points, or rebounding, or keeping plays alive, or rotating on defense, etc. I see lots of good things he's doing on the court.

I see your point, Fresh. Because of our big man depth, Gody will have a hard time getting on the court, even though he's looking good out there. Unless he beats out Baby, he'll only be seeing limited action.

So the question is, would he be better served going to the D-League and playing everyday in a much bigger role? Or would it be better for him to compete against the big boys in practice everyday, and watching how the game is played in the NBA from the sidelines?

And FL, yeah, Gody does have an old school game. I really like that about him.

Sean Grande and Brian Robb from Celtics Hub both feel that Wafer will make the team over Lasme because of Bradley's slow healing ankle and West being out for the first 10 games. And since Wafer can back up the 2 or the 3, we have more need of depth at those positions right now because of West and Bradley both being out.

We may need Wafer's shooting because not only is Delonte out the first 10 games, he is apparently having back issues and has a history of injury, as does Daniels. It may be a tough call between Wafers shot (when it's there) and Lasme's defense.

I can see Gody in the D-league because of our depth up front. Pre-season is one thing, but playing in the D-league may help him develop his game more so that he will be more ready for prime time.
