Key Matchups
vs ![[image] [image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/phil76/LWilliamsPhi.jpg) Rajon Rondo vs Lou Williams Lou Williams is a young point guard getting is first chance at starting and is making the most of it. In their first meeting this season, neither PG stood out but Rondo had slightly better stats with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals to 7 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals for Williams. Rondo needs to be aggressive and go at Williams and he will be able to take advantage of the matchup.
vs ![[image] [image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/phil76/BrandPhila.jpg) Kevin Garnett vs Elton Brand This is a matchup of two recovering stars. Brand was out all last season for the Sixers and KG missed the last two games vs Philly with the flu and then the knee injury. KG has a height advantage but Brand has a power advantage. Neither player is quite 100% yet, but both can cause trouble if they get in a groove. KG and Perk will have to work together to guard the interior against a strong Philly front line.
Game Notes • The C’s are currently 1-0 against the Sixers this season; the Celtics swept the season series 4-0 against Philadelphia in 2008-09 • Ray Allen led the Celtics with 20.7 points per game last season • Andre Iguodala led the 76ers with 17.5 points per game against the Celtics last season • The 2008-09 season sweep marked the first time since the 1995-96 season that the Celtics swept the season series with the 76ers • The Celtics are leading the all-time series 235-175 with the Celtics 137-48 at home
The Celtics beat the Sixers 105-74 in their first game this season. I am sure the Sixers are coming into the Garden with revenge on their minds, especially the way the Celtics have been playing recently.
The Sixers are playing in the second of back to back games and in the 3rd game in 4 nights while the Celtics have been off since Sunday. Hopefully, fatigue for the Sixers and rest for the Celtics will translate into a win for home team.
Keys to the Game Defense As I have said before, defense is going to be the key to every game this season and to winning the championship. The Celtics have talked alot about defense, but have been slipping in playing it in recent games. They need to get back their commitment to team defense.
Rebound The Sixers have a good rebounding team and the Celtics have to crash the boards to prevent the Sixers from getting second chance baskets and they also need to crash the offensive boards to keep the Sixers from running the break, which they do well. The Celtics are next to last in offensive rebounding. Much of rebounding is effort and desire and the Celtics must show more of both.
Play 48 Minutes The Celtics have been coming out flat and making runs only to go flat again. The Celtics need to get back to strong starts and playing the entire game instead of digging a hole in the beginning and playing in spurts.
Use the 3 With Caution Live by the 3 and die by the 3, and the Celtics have been dying by it recently. If the 3's are falling, they are a weapon, but if they aren't, they need to go to the basket. The Celtics have been over relying on the long distance shot and they need to get back to driving to the hoop and either getting the score or drawing the foul.

I never cared for the 76'ers--there's just something about them I can't get to like. I wasn't watching basketball during the Dr. J era. I caught the very tail end of the Barkley era, I hated them during their Clarence Weatherspoon era, and the Allen Iverson era, and even right now I don't like them.
I don't know why.
I hope we get our game back on track and beat them by 25.

Haha the Clarence Weatherspoon era. Not a particularily glorious time in Philadelphia 76er history. But to his credit, Baby Barkley became a pretty solid role player in the 2nd half of his career. The expectations for him were way too high in Philly.
Fun Clarence Weatherspoon fact: He almost became a Celtic in 1997. Rick Pitinot tried to trade Dino Radja to Philly for Spoon and Michael Cage (owner of one of the greatest perms in NBA history). But the trade fell through. What could've been.

Hmm one thing we got going for us is that Brand still hasn't got into sync with his team. Capitalize on that and I also see this as a chance for us to measure ourselves against a possible eastern playoff opponent. These guys gave the Magic trouble last year so they're no pushovers.

Well, they are an athletic team with length.
Perk sometimes struggles against athletic big men, and we'll see if Dalembert gives him trouble (I think Perk does well moreso against big men who like to play physical).
Thaddeus Young and Andre Iguodala, if they get hot, could cause Pierce and Ray to exert more energy on defense chasing them around.

KG isn't looking very good, he's obviously limping in this one. I admire his desire, but he just can't get where he needs to be on either end of the court right now.

Another struggle against a bad team. And not much from the bench, judging from the box score. Hopefully, they will make adjustments at half time and have a big third quarter.
Seems like we're still in the rut of struggling with bad teams; and 52 points is a lot for us to give up in a half.

I have to say that I really don't like what I've seen most recently, poor defense, absolutely no idea in offenseive end, I can't recognize this team, but right now, we're far away from banner 18

Rondo is becoming big problem too. Since he signed his contract he has played really poor defense. He has also seemed to do the wrong thing on the offensive end, he passes when he should shoot. Not many guys can keep him out of the paint and he needs to take advantage of that.
Sheed it playing like crap too. Perk is playing well again, but can't stay out of foul trouble. I loved it when he led the break twice in the first half.
Ray needs more shots to help lessen the load on Pierce.

If anyone wants to watch the games, they are always online here. That is how I get to watch most of the games ever since I moved to Japan.

So much for my hopes of a good third quarter, we've given up more than 30 pts this quarter alone. It's still early in the season, but sooner or later that disclaimer will start to sound very hollow.

Down by 6 at the end of 3 and we look like crap. Part of it is Philly hitting 9-13 3's, IDK why everyone lights it up from downtown against us this year. Kapono is killing us. Green also had his career best QTR scoring 14 points.
We are a mess right now.

Rondo has played a great 4th QTR with the exception of the last minute of the game. Our 10 point lead down to two with 30 seconds left and we blow a wide open layup. That is two of those we have missed and it's costing us.
Pierce takes a big charge from Iggy. And then Rondo hits a prayer with 9.6 left to put us up by 4.
