 Concerned about Bill Walker
« Thread Started on Nov 3, 2009, 11:32pm »

I'm concerned about Bill Walker--and its not about his knee.

If Jr GIddens was ahead of Walker at the time of his injury, I'm wondering if Walker is really a potential rotational player for us? Giddens doesn't look good at all. Energy player yes, but as for regularly contributing--maybe not. How good is Walker going to be if he can't beat out GIddens.

I'm just thinking this out cause I'm looking ahead to the next couple of years and seeing who we can pencil in off the bench.

So far, I see good depth up front with Shelden and Baby.

I think our backup PG is looking more and more like it'll be Lester Hudson.

But as for our backup wings? Right now, its blank (yeah, Marquis Daniels could be one of them).

I was hoping either Walker or Giddens would emerge to fill this position--but I'm crossing Giddens off the list, and don't know if Walker should be crossed off too.

They aren't saying that Giddens won't be back. They didn't pick up his option but could still bring him back for vet minimum. I don't know that Giddens was ahead of Walker. Doc was saying how good Walker was coming along after staying in Boston this summer working out. And he hasn't seemed all that high on Giddens. If Walker's knee holds up, he could still be a possibility.

Fans have to remember that w/ each pick the club didn't sign, it was after the club invested in another player. Ex: R2 for $55 million, didn't sign Giddens.

I think the sign points towards Giddens not being a part of the long term picture.

Hopefully Walker is able to land a spot on the bench when he recovers from his injury. We still need a scoring wing off the bench--for this year and the future.

Doc said Giddens had made great stride ini an article about no exercising option. Still might go to NBDL when others get well.

Plain and simple, Giddens just isn't ready to earn a spot on this team. And its not because he's a young guy--Baby proved you can be a rookie and still earn minutes and a role off the bench, as Lester Hudson is doing also.

Giddens appears to be a bit like Walter McCarty--plays hard and hustles, but not that valuable otherwise.
