My apologies for not being able to say much. But it's true.

Rest in Peace 1917 -2006

Red was the Celtics pure and simple. It is a sad day in the Celtics community. My prayers go out to his family.

It is a very sad thing that Red didn't get to see banner #17 raised to the rafters, but when we do, it will be dedicated to Red who was the heart and soul of this organization.

Red will live forever in our memories.
In a way, he is our Celtic father.
He is, for the most part, why we are here at CG.

That's the thing with Red, he is the Celtics and he will live on in all those that got to experience what he was all about.

Not surprising but still unsettling nonetheless. Time to raise his name to the Rafters.

Don't worry Fl. Red will definitely see us raise banner #17. Red will always be watching. His spirit will always be around the Celtics organization lingering in the new garden, urging Bassy and Rondo to run, hoping that Perk can become a modern day Bill Russell, pushing Pierce to take it to the next level, whispering to Doc what decisions to make and helping Danny make that next great move.

His cigar will never stop burning, especially in Celtics Nation.

Red was, is, and always will be the Boston Celtics.

R.I.P. Red. You will be missed. Prayers go out to your family.

We all love you.

NBA.com says that the Celtics will dedicate this season to Red. If that isn't a motivation to have a great year, nothing is. Red deserves only the very best.

You know it is strange but Red made a comment several years ago that the Celtics would never have cheerleaders while he was alive. Very sadly his words have come true. I wonder if all the changes were just too much for him.

FL for some strange reason your comment (which is very insightful) makes me feel better. There are some coaches and sports figures you just feel something for. Red was one of them and I feel aweful right now.

It's a tough pill to swallow for most of us EJA.
One day we will be on his bench.

For some reason I was shocked, but it was more the fact a legend past away. Red was the Celtics, the heart and soul of the franchise. May he rest in peace. :'(

Kind of surreal, as if this isn't really real. He's been around for so long that you just expect him to be around forever. He and the Celtics will forever remain connected and if there's one thing great about this Celtics organization, its that we don't allow traditions to die. This will only make Red's legendary status even greater. Red will continue to live on in Celtics lore for ages to come.

This will also unite the great Celtics to come back and pay tribute to the great Celtics mascot. All the former greats will unite on the parquet floor and we shall see how real the Celtics fraternity really is. Even though they may all be a part of different organizations now, their green blood runs deeper than anything else, and they will unify for Red one last time.

Man, I'm getting goose bumbs just thinking of all of them flocking home to Boston to pay tribute to Red. For at leat one day, all these formers Celtics will once again become one team.

If this doesn't energize our current Celtics team, nothing else will.
